We're a small team building as fast as humanly possible. Gusto, Ramp, Shopify, Samsara, Instacart, and Opendoor are running agents on Gumloop across their company. Role Overview

As a Senior Accountant at Gumloop, you will own the in-house accounting function as we transition away from outsourced bookkeeping and build a scalable financial foundation for a fast-growing, usage-based AI platform. You will own the full close for our U.S. and Canadian entities, produce accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, and bring structure to revenue recognition, multi-entity consolidations, and financial controls.

This role sits at the center of how Gumloop understands its unit economics. You will partner closely with leadership on revenue accounting under ASC 606—including subscriptions, usage, credits, overages, and enterprise contracts—as well as infrastructure-related COGS and the metrics that matter for a usage-based SaaS business.

You will have a high degree of ownership in a lean environment, with broad scope across close, revenue, tax coordination, and process design. You will also have visibility into board reporting and our systems stack, including QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Rippling, Google Sheets, and, ideally, Stripe Billing and Stripe Revenue Recognition.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for our U.S. and Canadian entities.

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

  • Own account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, consolidations, and financial reporting.

  • Manage accounts payable, payroll accounting, expense accounting, fixed assets, and cash reconciliations.

  • Own revenue accounting and ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription, usage-based, and enterprise contracts.

  • Coordinate U.S. and Canadian corporate tax filings, sales taxes, payroll taxes, and other regulatory requirements.

What You Bring
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and 5 years of accounting experience.

  • Experience owning the full month-end close process from start to finish.

  • Multi-entity accounting experience, including intercompany transactions and consolidations.

  • Hands-on experience with ASC 606 and SaaS revenue recognition, including subscriptions, usage-based revenue, deferred revenue, and contract assets.

  • Experience coordinating U.S. and Canadian tax matters and working with external advisors.

  • A CPA or equivalent accounting qualification.

  • A startup ownership mindset and comfort with systems such as QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Rippling, and Google Sheets.

Benefits
  • Highly competitive salary and meaningful equity

  • Generous paid time off: 24 days for SF employees and 20 days globally, use them as you need

  • $350/month wellness benefit to spend on gym, spa, equipment, or whatever keeps you at your best

  • 15 days of temporary remote work flexibility per year

  • 401k match up to 6%

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
