We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant with strong lease accounting and intercompany accounting expertise to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ASC 842 lease accounting, intercompany transactions and reconciliations, month-end closing, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial analysis. This role will support corporate and local finance teams by ensuring accurate accounting and reporting, maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP, and supporting audit requirements.This position plays a key role in managing lease accounting processes, intercompany activity, reconciliations, and financial reporting while supporting process improvements and internal controls. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
The Senior Accountant supports Neogen's global accounting operations with a focus on ASC 842 lease accounting, intercompany activity, reconciliations, and close processes. This role partners with finance and cross-functional teams across multiple entities to help ensure accurate financial reporting, timely issue resolution, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain lease accounting activities in accordance with ASC 842, including operating and finance leases.
- Prepare and review lease-related journal entries, amortization schedules, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Review lease agreements and related documentation to support accurate accounting treatment, classification, and reporting.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations for right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, and related accounts.
- Manage and reconcile intercompany balances and transactions across multiple Neogen entities.
- Partner with domestic and international finance teams to investigate and resolve intercompany discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare and post intercompany journal entries, allocations, settlements, and related supporting schedules.
- Prepare, review, and maintain bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and entities, ensuring reconciling items are identified, researched, and resolved timely.
- Review and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, including cash, lease, and intercompany accounts.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account analyses, flux/variance explanations, and reporting schedules.
- Prepare supporting schedules and audit workpapers for internal and external audit requests.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, FP&A, Tax, Operations, Treasury, and other Accounting teams regarding lease, cash, and intercompany matters.
- Support implementation, maintenance, and optimization of lease accounting software, ERP systems, reporting tools, and process improvements.
- Develop, maintain, and update accounting policies, procedures, and desk procedures to support consistency, accuracy, and knowledge sharing.
- Assist with technical accounting research and interpretation of accounting guidance as needed.
- Support other accounting and finance responsibilities, special projects, and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience in accounting, finance, or related roles with responsibility for general ledger activity, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and lease accounting concepts, including ASC 842.
- Ability to prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to research discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend timely resolutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data validation, lookups, and large data set analysis.
- Ability to work with ERP systems, lease accounting tools, and financial reporting systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams, functions, and locations.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and sound judgment.

Desirable Requirements
- CPA, CPA eligibility, or progress toward a professional accounting certification.
- Experience with lease accounting software and/or ASC 842 implementation or ongoing administration.
- Experience supporting intercompany accounting in a multi-entity or global organization.
- Experience in manufacturing, life sciences, food safety, animal safety, or another regulated business environment.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
- Experience preparing audit schedules and working with internal or external auditors.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using reporting, automation, or data analytics tools.
- Ability to document processes clearly and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and scalability.
