Your role at Clorox:

This role supports the preparation of the Company's financial filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and also has responsibility for technical research and accounting documentation over a variety of complex areas. This includes leading analysis of quarter results for SEC filings and crafting communications for those filings, evaluation of strategic transactions for proper accounting treatment, monitoring emerging accounting standards under U.S. GAAP, and implementing required disclosure updates by leading cross-functional projects. This position has a high level of visibility to functional accounting and corporate finance leaders and is an opportunity to drive change in critical areas of the Finance department.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the quarterly close process and helped prepare with the Company’s quarterly earnings release process and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) in the quarterly form 10-Q and annual form 10-K.
  • Prepare key control documentation and other supporting files related to the earnings release and financial statements.
  • Research accounting literature and apply technical standards related to the Company’s implementation of new accounting standard updates and related controls.
  • Develop relationships and work closely with business partners in the various Finance departments in order to provide accounting and business support, including research and recommendations on SEC Reporting/TAG accounting issues, as well as implementation of accounting changes.
  • Support the  the maintenance of the Company’s accounting policies and procedures. Standardize process for policy changes and compliance while providing practical accounting consultation and interpretation.
  • Support special project work as needed and other ad hoc tasks as assigned
  • Provide support to internal and external audit activities, including providing deliverables, and assist with Sarbanes-Oxley self-assessment testing as needed.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting standards, accounting policies and financial statements, and research skills
  • Strong attention to detail resulting in consistently reliable, accurate and thorough work product
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills, as well as business writing skills
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to work effectively in teams and influence and lead cross-functional projects
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively with strong planning and task organizational skills
  • Flexible, adaptable and proactive
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements, as well as proactively creating opportunities for improvement

What we look for:

  • B.S./B.A. in Finance and/or Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • A mix of public and industry experience is preferred
  • Proficient in PC applications, including Microsoft Office suite (primarily Word and Excel)
  • SAP or other ERP systems, and Wdesk (SEC filing tool by Workiva)
  • Experiences preferred Big 4 or public accounting experience preferred

Hybrid - 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $72,400 - $132,500

–Zone B: $66,400 - $121,500

–Zone C: $60,300 - $110,400

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
