Who We Are

The Solana Foundation is a non-profit based in Zug, Switzerland, dedicated to the adoption, decentralization, and security of the Solana network. Solana is a high performance blockchain that can deliver a fast and friendly user experience, without sacrificing security. The Solana Foundation is working to realize a world where individuals own their data, use permissionless networks, and transfer information and value freely around the world. We are looking for talented people who are willing to jump right in and use their expertise to help the ecosystem build.

The Opportunity

Solana Foundation is seeking a Senior Accountant to help develop the accounting function across the Foundation and its wholly owned US subsidiary, SF Operations Inc.

This is an operations-first accounting role. Reporting directly to the Controller, you own the day-to-day machinery of how money moves through the organization — how bills get paid, how cash comes in, how spend is controlled, and how all of it lands accurately in the ledger across two entities and two accounting standards.

The first six months are systems work: onboarding a new expense management and bill pay platform, integrating an agentic procurement system, and automating accounts receivable. From there the role expands across the wider function. You will be designing process architecture, not inheriting it, which means the person who fits this seat is as comfortable rebuilding a workflow as closing a month.

To be successful in this role
You will:
  • Own Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash end to end — run AP and AR as processes, not queues. Find the bottlenecks, propose the fix, and implement it. Take responsibility for cycle times, accuracy, and the vendor and customer experience on both sides of the ledger.

  • Build the finance tech stack alongside the Controller — lead the onboarding of a new expense management and bill pay platform, integrate agentic procurement, and automate AR. Evaluate what should be a tool, what should be an automation, and what still needs a human. Own the implementations through to adoption.

  • Control company spend — manage corporate cards and the expense programme, review employee and company spending, and make policy real through process rather than reminders.

  • Keep the general ledger clean across both entities — ensure all financial information is accurately reflected in the GL in compliance with the appropriate GAAP standards for our Swiss and US based entities.

  • Own reconciliations, onchain and off — prepare and lead balance sheet and asset reconciliations, including bank transactions and onchain wallet activity.

  • Report the numbers — prepare and support month-end close, financial reporting, budget vs actual, and ad hoc analysis for the Finance team and the wider business.

  • Close control gaps before they cost something — monitor processes, procedures, and controls for record keeping accuracy, and proactively identify weaknesses and build the controls around them.

Who you are:
  • A qualified accountant with 3–5 years across public and industry — a mix of public accounting firm and relevant industry experience, with an emphasis on accounting, financial management, and financial reporting. Certified Public Accountant. FinTech experience is a strong plus; blockchain more so.

  • Systems-fluent, not just systems-tolerant — hands-on with Xero or a comparable platform such as QuickBooks. Comfortable in Airtable and other automation-friendly databases. You have opinions about how tools should fit together and you have built those integrations yourself.

  • Comfortable working with AI and agentic systems — you are nimble inside an evolving accounting tech stack, and you can lead a tooling project rather than wait for one to be handed to you.

  • Onchain literate — familiar with blockchain, and the digital asset space, and unfazed by reconciling wallet activity alongside bank statements.

  • Built for startup pace — you have worked in a fast-moving start-up or at a company that scaled quickly, and you know how to hold accuracy steady while everything around it changes.

  • Detail-obsessed and analytical — strong problem-solving instincts, and the kind of attention to detail that catches the thing nobody was looking for.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
