We are seeking a Senior Sales Account Executive who must have quota-carrying sales experience and must have sold digital marketing solutions to financial institutions. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in digital online media sales and performance marketing, specifically in selling advertising solutions to financial institutions. This is a consultative sales role that requires a deep understanding of digital marketing, ad technology, and campaign analytics.

Mission and Goals

As a Senior Sales Account Executive – Financial Performance Markeat GBR, you’ll drive revenue growth by building and managing relationships with financial clients, focusing on consultative sales of performance-driven digital advertising campaigns. Reporting to the GM of GOBankingRates, you’ll educate partners on digital marketing solutions, understand and optimize client KPIs, and exceed quarterly sales targets through new business and upselling. You’ll work cross-functionally to ensure campaign execution and stay ahead of digital trends in financial services marketing.

Objectives

  • Build and manage a book of financial and related client revenue, including both existing accounts and new prospects to close and onboard.

  • Meet and exceed quarterly revenue targets through consistent new sales and upselling activities focused on digital advertising.

  • Conduct regular client-facing interactions including calls, office visits, lunches, networking, and educational meetings with top financial brands and ad agencies.

  • Educate prospective clients on performance marketing, direct response, customer acquisition, content sponsorships, and data-driven campaign optimization.

  • Ensure client satisfaction by deeply understanding KPIs, delivering measurable outcomes, and maintaining compliance.

  • Drive forward planning, encourage data sharing, and identify new opportunities to support campaign success and client growth.

  • Maintain accurate records of all accounts, opportunities, and prospects in Salesforce per team standards.

  • Collaborate with Sales Operations to delegate tasks and focus on strategic goals and growth.

  • Negotiate budget increases by proposing new digital initiatives, products, and optimizations.

  • Work closely with Product and Sales Ops teams to develop new strategies, leveraging creative and landing page testing.

  • Stay informed on product updates, industry pricing, and competitive trends across display, mobile, and digital advertising.

  • Represent GBR at client meetings, industry events, and conferences as needed.

  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance reports, providing clients with actionable insights and strategic recommendations.

  • Coordinate with technical, legal, tracking, compliance, and creative teams to ensure smooth campaign execution.

  • Facilitate onboarding of new clients and support ongoing account growth.

Competencies

  • 5+ years’ experience in digital online media sales and performance marketing, with proven success selling advertising solutions to financial institutions.

  • Deep understanding of digital marketing, ad technology, and performance marketing principles.

  • Strong experience with the financial services vertical and ability to speak fluently to financial clients’ needs.

  • Excellent client relationship management skills with a focus on building long-term partnerships.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, able to consultatively sell complex digital marketing solutions.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce and other sales enablement tools.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Willingness to travel when needed.
