Who We Are:

At ATTN:, we tell stories that bring smart attention to topics that matter in news, culture, public policy, and advocacy.  We started as a publisher, building a business around attention that amassed a massive audience, giving us rare insights and valuable distribution. Since then, we’ve grown into a media company that creates original IP and bespoke content, provides full-service creative marketing and strategic advisory services, and builds creator-led brand programs for social platforms, non-profits, and client partners.

About The Role:

A Senior Account Director is a seasoned agency leader who owns executive-level client partnerships, commercial strategy, and team growth. You will serve as a bridge between client C-suites and our internal creative, strategy, production, and media teams, driving revenue and ensuring client goals and creative visions are met across complex, multi-channel programs. You will be a champion of creator-led and influencer marketing, shaping strategies that leverage talent, UGC, and whitelisted creator content to drive measurable outcomes across social platforms.

Strategic Client Partnership

  • Act as primary advisor to top-tier clients, translating business goals into clear strategies and measurable KPIs.
  • Provide thought leadership on social-first, creator-led, and platform-native approaches; stay ahead of trends and paid/platform capabilities.
  • Navigate sensitive client needs with composure; proactively de-risk issues and strengthen trust.
  • Serve as the main link between brand and creators/talent managers; define influencer strategy and measurement frameworks.

Growth & Financial Management

  • Drive organic growth via upsell/cross-sell; shape new scopes, pricing, and margin targets.
  • Lead/co-lead pitches and RFPs using competitive analyses, case studies, and social playbooks.
  • Package and price creator/influencer programs, performance-based models, and integrated talent + paid amplification + social commerce.
  • Negotiate creator rates, usage, and licensing; own portfolio financial health (forecasting, resourcing, budgets, burn, margin) using Asana and Kantata; enforce scoping/change orders/contracts.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate Account Directors/Managers/Executives; set clear expectations and growth plans; celebrate wins and coach through losses.
  • Delegate effectively, empowering ownership while stepping in decisively when needed.
  • Champion collaborative, cross-functional ways of working across creative, strategy, production, and media.
  • Upskill teams on creator best practices (contracting/licensing, benchmarking, content feedback, disclosure compliance, paid whitelisting) and train on creator management platforms.

Delivery, Optimization & Operational Excellence

  • Lead end-to-end creator campaigns from brief to reporting, including sourcing/vetting talent (micro to celebrity), timelines, briefs, content approvals, and daily comms with talent management.
  • Oversee paid and organic social programs—including influencer strategies—on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube; track performance (e.g., engagement rates), ensure KPI attainment, ROI storytelling, and executive-ready reporting.
  • Identify performance trends and run strategic optimizations; partner with talent managers/marketplaces/platforms to maximize distribution, whitelisting, and brand safety.
  • Ensure efficient content workstreams and conflict resolution; model ATTN’s values: Make It Smart, Make It Great, Make It Matter.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in account management, marketing, or public relations within creative/advertising/media/PR agencies, with a proven record leading large or complex accounts.
  • 5+ years leading creator/influencer programs at scale, including sourcing, negotiation, briefing, whitelisting/allowlisting, and content usage and licensing.
  • 4+ years managing and mentoring teams with strong cross-functional leadership.
  • Strong relationships with talent agencies, creator platforms, and influencer tech partners; fluency in affiliate/social commerce models and tracking.
  • Deep, current expertise in social media across paid and organic; fluency in platform capabilities, influencer strategies, audience targeting, and social KPIs.
  • Demonstrated business development success: upsell/cross-sell, leading pitches, SOW development, pricing, and negotiation.
  • Strong financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, resourcing, margin management; experience with Asana and Kantata or similar tools.
  • Executive presence with excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; comfortable engaging C-suite stakeholders.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented problem solver who performs under pressure and anticipates challenges.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; advanced degree a plus.

Actual compensation is based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
