About Us:

YipitData is the leading market research and analytics firm for the disruptive economy. We recently raised $475M from The Carlyle Group at a valuation of over $1B. Every day, our proprietary technology analyzes billions of alternative data points to uncover actionable insights across sectors like software, AI, cloud, e-commerce, ridesharing, and payments.

Our data and research teams transform raw data into strategic intelligence — delivering accurate, timely, and deeply contextualized analysis that our customers, from top investment funds to Fortune 500 companies, rely on to make confident, high-impact decisions. From sourcing novel datasets to crafting thoughtful narratives around the data, our teams ensure clients get not just numbers, but clarity, confidence, and partnership.

We’re a global team with offices across the US (NYC, Austin, Miami, Mountain View), APAC (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Singapore), and India. Our people-first culture, recognized by Inc. as a Best Workplace for three consecutive years, emphasizes transparency, growth, and shared ownership.

About the Role:

We’re expanding our Public Investor team by welcoming a Head of Financial Services Sector to shape and nurture the continued development of our fundamental research across our subscription-based data products. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone with 7+ years of experience who’s eager to help guide the future of data-informed investment research, combining strategic insight, product growth, and team mentorship.

You might be a great fit if you’ve worked with or built investor-facing equity research assets and bring experience in data product development, collaborative go-to-market planning, team leadership, and business ownership. Experience in Financial Services is highly valued. If you’re motivated by collaboration, curiosity, and the opportunity to translate complex data into insights that create real impact, we’d love to connect.

This role is remote-friendly and can be based in NYC, one of our hubs (Austin, Miami, Mountain View), or anywhere in the US. We offer NYC-based salaries for all US roles, regardless of location.

As Head of Financial Services Sector, Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Develop and Own the Sector Vision & Strategy
    • Define and continuously refine the long-term product and commercial strategy for your sector.
    • Use experimentation, customer insight, and market awareness to position your sector as a go-to source for investor intelligence.
  • Drive Financial Performance & P&L Ownership
    • Lead with both ambition and balance — setting goals for ARR and profit margins that prioritize both growth and quality.
    • Identify opportunities with the highest potential impact and ensure teams have what they need to succeed.
  • Deliver Best-in-Class Product and Client Experience
    • Be the voice of the customer, deeply understand investor needs and translate them into meaningful product and data innovations.
    • Foster a culture of listening, iteration, and excellence in how we serve clients.
  • Build, Lead, and Inspire a High-Performing Cross-Functional Team
    • Recruit, develop, and inspire exceptional research and data talent.
    • Promote collaboration, trust, and accountability within your team and across functions.
  • Communicate, Collaborate, and Execute Relentlessly
    • Collaborate across Finance, Sales, Partnerships, and Product to align goals and deliver cohesive, data-driven outcomes.
    • Communicate clearly and compassionately, ensuring everyone understands priorities and progress.

You Are Likely To Succeed If:

Have 7+ years of experience building or leveraging investor-facing research, with a track record in product development, go-to-market strategy, team leadership, and P&L management.

  • Bring experience in equity research or business analysis — and a genuine curiosity for how data can power smarter decisions.
  • Have 3+ years of people leadership experience and enjoy empowering others to grow and excel.
  • Take pride in strategic execution — connecting big-picture vision with daily impact.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
