Our Hopper dredgers (TSHD) and Cutter dredgers (CSD) work around the world on the most challenging dredging projects. Being a sailor with DEME is not only sailing from A to B. You need to work with the dredging equipment, which you can only learn by doing it. If you have experience in dredging, please apply here.Your responsibilities

  • You will work on board a TSHD, CSD or split barge depending on your motivation and skills, under the First Mate’s supervision

  • You are responsible for the watchkeeping, navigation, the dredging process, the maintenance of the dredging equipment and the daily operations on board

  • You contribute to the performance of the operational activities and the optimization of production

  • You maintain the safety on board

  • You update navigation charts and books

  • You will be communicating with the project managers, site superintendents, surveyors and local authorities. It is part of the daily job

Your profile

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nautical sciences or you followed an 'MBO-4' or ‘HBO’ education in a maritime academy or nautical institute

  • You hold a COC (Certificate of Competency in accordance with the international convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers 1995)

  • You speak and write fluent English

  • You are flexible to work on projects in Belgium and around the world

  • You have a valid Passport, Seaman's Book, Seafarers Medical

  • You have a strong awareness of Health, Safety and Environment

  • You have a hands-on and no nonsense mentality

  • Preferably you already have a basic experienced in dredging
