Job Description:

The Job/What You'll Do:

The SDBA Business Development Consultant is responsible for leading the growth and development of AssetMark’s Self-Directed Brokerage Account Solution for the western region at AssetMark. This role focuses on consulting with advisors to assist them with navigating the complexities of managing individual SDBA’s inside of retirement plans and positioning AssetMark as the investment solutions leader in the space.   

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our office location in Chicago, IL, or Charlotte, NC. Or remote, but geographically located East of the Mississippi.

Responsibilities:

  • Market Development: Develop deep and meaningful relationships with AssetMark sales teams, advisors, and recordkeeping wholesalers to identify business opportunities.
  • Client Acquisition: Actively seek new client relationships and manage the sales lifecycle from prospecting to closing. Educate, influence, and persuade advisors on the key benefits of the AssetMark SDBA program.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with financial advisors, ensemble teams, and recordkeeping wholesalers. Manage advisor escalations timely to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
  • Business Development Excellence: Proactive and continuous outreach to prospective clients utilizing internal and external networks, Salesforce, Discovery Database, marketing campaign leads, etc. while maintaining a sales pipeline
  • Networking and Outreach: Attend/Present at AssetMark and industry conferences, networking events, and seminars to promote the organization’s retirement services, expanding the network of potential advisory clients and partners.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including compliance, operations, and marketing, to ensure alignment in service offerings and messaging in the marketplace.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with a focus on client needs and business objectives
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to travel up to 40% of the time based on territory

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • 5-10 years proven experience in business development or sales with SDBA accounts, specifically PCRA and BrokerageLink and/or retirement plan industry experience
  • FINRA Series 6 (or 7), 63, and 65 (or 66) are required

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $100,000-$125,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for a comprehensive sales incentive package and competitive benefits.
