*Job Title: Science Curriculum Writer High School (Education), Must Have Teaching Experience
We are seeking a dynamic, empathic and experienced individual to join our team of writers to support writing our high school science curriculum. This is an IMMEDIATE need.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in science education, a strong understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and a passion for creating innovative, phenomenon-based curricula. This role requires a unique blend of scientific expertise, creativity, collaboration, and leadership to design and evaluate engaging science curricula that integrate technology and best teaching practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
- Develop curriculum for an online edtech platform. Specifically, that is original and fits within our usage guidelines.
- Design high school science curricula aligned with NGSS, emphasizing an integrated science model.
- Develop storyline-based and/or phenomenon-driven instructional materials that inspire curiosity and critical thinking in students.
- Translate strategic visions for science education into actionable steps for curriculum development teams.
Collaboration and Feedback:
- Ensure contributions create a cohesive and interdisciplinary curricula.
- We are all individual contributors here; be ready to get in the weeds and work with your team.
- Provide actionable and constructive feedback on curriculum drafts, ensuring adherence to NGSS and the highest quality standards.
- Be willing to be an active team member, work with others to give supportive resources as well as recieve support.
- EdTech and AI Integration:
- Utilize AI tools to enhance curriculum design, generate creative ideas, and streamline workflows.

Subject to writer's avaibility, ideally at minimum 20-30 hours per week

Project Management:
- Deliver high-quality outcomes on extremely tight deadlines
- Have people management experience and skills, be able to navigate setting, enforce deadlines, giving feedback on materials and maintain a clear product vision.
- Create and manage detailed timelines for curriculum development projects, ensuring on-time delivery.
- Be able to manage time for yourself, but additionally have a touch point on the time spent by SME’s working on projects, with an eye on how to achieve the best product while optimizing output.
- Strategize process efficiencies to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Work on a team with their counterpart & subject matter experts well!
- Track project progress and report updates to supervisors regularly.
**Qualifications:
Required:**
- Experience writing curriculum in the edtech space
- Significant (8-10+ years) Experience teaching in High school grade bands.
- Expertise in NGSS, with the ability to apply it effectively in curriculum development.
- Experience teaching science at the middle school or high school level (preferably both).
- Proven experience in curriculum writing and development, focusing on storyline-based or phenomenon-driven approaches.
- Strong familiarity with integrated science models.
- Experience in the edtech space, with a demonstrated ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide constructive feedback.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to engage in hands-on curriculum development.
Preferred:
Background in instructional design or educational technology.
Experience using AI tools in curriculum design or educational content creation.
Familiarity with middle and high school learners and their developmental needs.
Position Details:
Type: Contract, 1099, Hourly
Location: Remote
Duration: Must have immediate availability, Immediate Through October or End of Year. Will have opportunities through next school year.
