As part of of the Pricing & Inventory Team you'll contribute to shaping our inventory and driving the growth and profitability of our markets. You're on the pulse of retail trends and strive to make purchases that ensure our customers have an unmatched inventory selection. As an auction aficionado, you'll use your buying expertise and analysis to snag the best cars at the right price and pass on the lemons. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for acquiring used-car inventory through online bidding and physical auction attendance
  • Analyze market trends and purchase inventory accordingly
  • Recognize retail trends and make adjustments on the buy side
  • Observe changes in the wholesale market and react accordingly
  • Own previewing, bidding, purchasing and all post sale follow-up
  •  Tracking, monitoring, and reporting of all purchases
  • Participate in inventory targeting & planning process
  • Engage in negotiation and procurement with Fleet companies
  • Capability to identify seasonality changes and adjust appropriately
  • Understanding of used car market - valuing vehicles based on condition, options & desirability
  • Knowledge of car conditions and cost associated with making vehicle's front-line ready
  • Ability to identify damage on Vehicle CR’s and make monetary deductions accordingly
  • Coordinate transportation of acquired vehicles to optimal locationsHandling of payment process with accounting & auction houses
  • Quickly escalate & articulate any arbitrations in a timely fashion to ensure arb windows are met.
  • Meet with Recon team to audit & ensure correct deductions are being made on a weekly basis
  • Clearly communicate and provide feedback to management to improve overall Auction procurement process
  • Collaborate with Pricing & engineering team and give critical input and feedback any pricing related issues pertaining to our algorithm and bidding process
  • Fill in and own process of previewing & bidding in other teammates absence

Requirements

  • 5 +plus years of auction or wholesale car buying experience
  • Passion for cars and the automotive industryKnowledge and experience of how used-car market works and operates
  • Ability to recognize wholesale trends and provide data backed analysis to appropriate teams
  • Experience working in performance-focused environments understanding and knowledge of the automotive industry: you are a true car enthusiast!
  • Strong work ethic, are a team player and thrive in collaborative, cross functional environments
  • Be your own boss, entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work apart from the team while still able to drive sound decision making and deliver results
  • You are autonomous, flexible, hungry to learn and grow, comfortable with ambiguity and change
  • Willingness to travel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in Excel
