The National Director of Sales, Grocery is responsible for driving and developing grocery sales. S/he will strategize + plan + execute directly with our retail partners and distributors. S/he will manage + build a team of Territory Sales Managers + third-party broker partners. The Director will be expected to grow net sales through increased distribution, promotion planning and successful new item launch campaigns. S/he will utilize insights and analytics in partnership with our marketing team to create a strong selling story to our partners.

DELIVERABLES

1) Sales Management

  • Meet/exceed annual new and existing customer revenue and profit goals for all company’s products
  • Meet/exceed sales targets within assigned markets and accounts
  • Meet/exceed annual customer revenue goals of incremental shelf space and ACV
  • Execute an annual calendar of client headquarter visits and business reviews with existing and prospective customers
  • Develop Conventional, Natural and Independent sales channels with current and new product lines. Establish senior level
  • contacts, win and manage new customers
  • Analyze and effectively leverage internal and external data to drive decision making, create compelling selling stories and
  • motivate the sales team

2) Financial

  • Responsible for meeting annual sales, profit and market share goals
  • Management of any pricing and contract concessions to guidelines as outlined by sales management
  • Review sales results and customer satisfaction measures and compare them to established objectives, and take actions to
  • ensure that goals and expectations are met

3) Management

  • Lead the Grocery sales team in execution of strategy, KPI and goal setting
  • Provide direction, development and motivation to the team to maximize performance
  • Manage and build broker network to maximize account penetration
  • Develop promotional and merchandising goals to achieve company’s tactical sales and promotional plans
  • Proactively communicate with management and marketing teams

REQUIREMENTS

  • BA in business or related field required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of CPG sales experience required
  • Minimum 3 years of people management experience required
  • Proven experience meeting/exceeding annual new and existing customer revenue and profit goals for all company’s products in
  • the Region in multiple categories.
  • Proven experience analyzing + applying consumer data
  • Must have strong existing account relationships within the territory
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the year
