About This Role

At Apeel Sciences, we look to nature to help the global food system improve quality, reduce waste, and ensure an abundant future for our planet. Apeel is seeking a Director Food Service sales to establish, manage, and scale Apeel’s food service partnerships and accounts initially in North America. This person will fully manage relationships with key customers including distributors, managed services companies, direct service restaurants and some wholesalers. The role will interact with commercial and non-commercial operators and will be able to close deals, achieve key quarterly sales targets and budgeting objectives. In addition to shaping the direction of Apeel’s Foodservice strategy, the Director Sales - Food Service will be exposed to support key initiatives across Apeel’s global sales team as we grow in Europe and Asia.

What You’ll Do

  • Keenly identify new business development/growth opportunities and drive the growth of new sales and products. We are seeking someone who can add value to categories being treated by Apeel.
  • Travel, work and act with an entrepreneurial mindset, demonstrating how Apeel adds value to the Foodservice customer base, and grower/suppliers.
  • Hold a curiosity and desire to master and analyze Foodservice trends and identify sales opportunities to enhance Apeel’s customers revenue.
  • In collaboration with strategy, sales and marketing colleagues, create and deliver compelling sales presentations to existing and potential customers, demonstrating the ability to orchestrate a meeting and connect subject matter experts where necessary.
  • Manage high volumes sales while also growing new customer accounts primarily in North America.
  • Demonstrate and be accountable for key-account management practices regarding food service customers, reporting on Apeel’s performance regularly.
  • Utilize basic financial forecasting concepts to work cross-functionally with internal sales, finance, marketing, and strategy teams to track sales progress
  • Negotiate contracts and programs with Apeel’s customer base
  • Authentically represent Apeel and its brand to external customers
  • Develop and successfully achieve annual growth plans and KPIs
  • Provide thought leadership and strategy for existing and new product categories

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of sales experience in CPG, food service, or a related field.
  • We are looking for someone who is curious and has subject matter expertise in the Food Service sector, yet is fascinated to learn more.
  • Proven experience and comfort with deploying innovative sales strategies, through presentations to close sales.
  • Experience selling produce or fresh product desirable. Demonstrated experience selling to the Food Service sector is valued.
  • Proven ability to help develop early-stage products and services from ideation through to sales execution with a demonstrated entrepreneurial flair. We are looking for someone who can demonstratable close sales.
  • Highly creative and resourceful, able to work and travel efficiently on their own while fitting in and being as part of the team
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication. Able to present & engage with stakeholders across all levels and industries.
  • Strong skills in negotiation, communication and influencing. A proven solutions finder.
  • Prior history leading and mentoring a results-driven sales team useful but not necessary
  • Solid understanding of P&L and the business impacts of sales decisions
  • Intermediate to high level of comfort with CRMs, preferably Salesforce
  • Able and willing to travel frequently with a potential to travel primarily in North America up to 40% of the month.
