As Business Development-- Ring Alarm, you will have the exciting opportunity to help shape the GTM strategy across several verticals that tie in to home security. As a member of the team, your primary responsibilities will be to develop and execute strategic growth strategies across existing and new market segments within each vertical. The ideal candidate will create a robust pipeline of opportunities for each segment, beginning with developing business cases for strategic partnership candidates, curating executive-level relationships to explore partnership opportunities, building the joint business plan, defining the feature and technical requirements, including timing, scope, roadmap & level of effort required to execute. Success will be defined once a new segment of the Alarm business has been launched that either expands the value of Alarm or increases its reach to a new customer segment. 

The BD will use their deep network of in-market contacts and relationships to establish Ring Alarm as the preeminent home security solution across both B2B &B2C service providers. By working with these service providers, you will evangelize Alarm, drive Alarm adoption within these customer segments, and collect end user feedback for Alarm Product and Engineering to meet the needs of these partners. 

The BD will report to the General Manager of Alarm and establish close working relationships with the internal Product & Engineering teams to ensure proper alignment on strategy, priority, scope, timing & required resources. 

Responsibilities

  • Identify – Seek out emerging customer, product and industry trends through customer insights, competitive and market analysis to continually feed new vertical opportunities into the pipeline for assessment
  • Assess – Flush out strategies by vertical through market sizing, revenue and profit opportunity, competitive set, strategic partners, product requirements, permission to sell & overall GTM strategy
  • Develop – Move the initiative from concept to reality: develop product, negotiate agreements, create & validate P&L, gain internal buy-in within organization and own all decisions required to execute with speed and precision
  • Launch – Fold new product or service offering into Alarm portfolio, optimize & grow the business

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related role and industry
  • 10+ years of Sales or Business Development experience in the platform / technology industry
  • 5+ years of experience identifying and executing successful large-scale, high impact partnership B2B deals (technology, hardware, software, services, marketing…etc.)
  • Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements
  • Experience building and maintaining a robust opportunity pipeline
  • Experience building detailed business models and data analysis
  • Experience outlining GTM strategies for products & services
  • Experience leading business development, sales, or similar teams
  • Experience interfacing with Product, Engineering & Executive teams to deliver a product offering from inception to launch

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Resourceful in achieving success in the face of ambiguity while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities
