Art Outsource Manager - Research and Development

In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends and has since gone on to become the most played PC game in the world and a key driver of the explosive growth of esports. Delivering visually stunning experiences for a global audience while also building new games gives artists exciting and complex problems to solve. Here, artists are working not only with one another, but also side-by-side with game designers, narrative writers, and audio designers and engineers to ensure that each piece of content from Riot reaches the level of quality players deserve. From animations to illustrations, cinematics to comics, characters to environments, we work as a team to put players first.

As a Riot Art Outsource Manager, you will help connect product teams to the right external partners while improving art outsource infrastructure and practices. You will build meaningful and trusting external relationships through clear two-way communication and planning. Your approach will ensure sustainable production without compromising quality. A perfect blend between a veteran production artist and logistics expert, you will strive to make the outsourcing experience truly world-class and engaging for all parties involved.

Our Research and Development teams are working towards putting the ‘s’ in Riot Games. On our R&D team, you will play a key part in managing the work and relationship with multiple Art Vendors. You will use both your extraordinary interpersonal and relationship skills to cultivate positive working relationships with our vendors. You’ll have a rare opportunity to travel to various places around the world to work with extraordinary talent.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Vendor Relationships - We have multiple domestic and international vendors. We want to foster positive relationships between Riot and the external teams we work with. You'll communicate Riot's vision and feedback to those vendors and serve as the voice for those teams. While we embrace technology to communicate, we also value spending time together and this role will require you to travel internationally to vendor sites.
  • Workflow - You’ll handle the workflow of all outsourced tasks. This will include organizing and leading all daily rituals, gathering all submissions by vendors, and presenting those submissions to the team for feedback. Once feedback is gathered you will clean it up and deliver it back to the vendors in a clear and understandable way.
  • Asset Management - We'd like you to make sure our art assets to be clean, organized and defined correctly so we can access them easily.
  • Administration - You’ll manage contracts for existing and new vendors as well as reviewing and approving timecards/invoices.
  • Vendor Management - If we need to engage new vendors, you will make initial contact with those new vendors and set up art trials.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS AND APPLICABLE TECHNOLOGIES:

  • Experience handling several Art vendors concurrently, or experience working with multiple internal and external partners.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to talk to technical staff, artists and business leaders.
  • Experience with Asset Management and maintaining those pipelines.
  • A valid passport (for international travel)
