As a member of the Career Sales team, a Sales Support Specialist ("SSS") is responsible for assisting the sales teams. Working cohesively with Cengage business units, Sales Management, Strategic Account Management and Account Executives, you will help to support the sales process. The SSS will provide key administrative activities such as: content mapping, systems updating, order processing/review, billing reviews, contract alignment and other responsibilities as needed. Activities will be conducted primarily from their home office.

What you'll do:

  • Assist sales teams with internal requests and daily operations, coordinating and communicating effectively with sales personnel and customers via phone and web conferencing, in order to help achieve overarching sales goals.
  • Pull reports as needed to help with opportunity/territory analysis
  • Provide updates on content and support interactions, run order processes, and assist faculty with desk copies and resource support.
  • Use clear, concise, and professional communication to establish and maintain relationships with individuals, internally and externally
  • Handle and work on content mapping exercises
  • Provide limited coverage for open positions on the team to ensure the success of the territory
  • Develop and follow through on daily plans to optimize sales potential for the team
  • Identify and report trends that could generate content, fresh ideas, or business models for Cengage
  • Escalate and lead reported customer technical issues efficiently, cross-collaborating with sales and technical support to provide updates to internal partners and customers, seeing it through to resolution.
  • Update and maintain CRM (Salesforce) as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by management
     

Skills You Will Need Here:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience with a successful record of accomplishment desired; At least two years of successful sales, technical support, customer service, or proven experience preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously; strong time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate next steps clearly
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key customers
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office applications; experience working with digital products and additional applications a plus
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel preferred
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Prior publishing experience preferred

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

$19.00 - $30.50 USD
