Purpose of Position:

The ideal candidate will have experience in the fresh produce sales industry, with a strong emphasis on tropical products. This individual will be responsible for providing consistent, day-to-day service to existing customers while driving incremental sales growth through effective ad planning, prospecting, and relationship building.

The candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of West Coast market players and dynamics, along with deep knowledge of the tropical produce supply chain. This role requires the ability to drive revenue growth by expanding the current customer base while maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing accounts.

Additionally, the candidate will represent the company at various conferences, trade shows, and industry events, enhancing brand presence and developing new business opportunities.

The individual must be capable of responding promptly and appropriately to customer inquiries and issues while successfully managing daily responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role. 

 Accountabilities: 

  • Demonstrated ability to increase sales through collaboration with current customer base 
  • Ability to work closely with our national network of processing facilities and distribution centers on any issues or opportunities 
  • Develop existing customer base to grow sales volumes and profits for department, including generating new ideas to assist the Sales team drive/maximize sales and profits. 
  • Initiate, develop, execute, service and manage sales for designated accounts across total product offering 
  • Communicate with customers on all aspects of orders processed; production, documents required, final delivery and billing info 
  • Must understand overall company sales priorities and work in a collaborative way to support the highest overall company profitability   
  • Manage select accounts and provide backup capacity to handle accounts when shorthanded.
  • Work with internal and external departments to resolve issues (i.e. payment deductions, service level disputes, quality concerns, etc.) and be able to report on resolution. 

 Minimum Skills Required: 

  • Proven experience in fresh produce sales, preferably with a focus on tropical commodities
  • Strong understanding of West Coast market players, competitive landscape, and industry dynamics
  • Deep knowledge of tropical produce supply chains, including sourcing, logistics, and seasonality
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth while expanding customer base and maintaining existing accounts
  • Experience with ad planning, promotions, and market-driven sales strategies.
  • Strong background in customer relationship management and service execution
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience representing a company at conferences, trade shows, and industry events
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sales/reporting tools
