Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of customer and supplier relationships across wholesale, retail, foodservice, food manufacturing, distribution, and related food channels.
- Support profitable trading activity by helping match customer demand with available internal and external supply.
- Develop new business through prospecting, outbound calls, customer research, follow-up, relationship building, and consistent pipeline activity.
- Engage directly with customers and suppliers on product needs, pricing, availability, delivery timing, order status, and service-related questions.
- Negotiate pricing, freight considerations, delivery timing, and basic commercial terms within approved guidelines.
- Partner with senior traders and sales leaders on more complex pricing, margin, supplier, contract, or high-value deal decisions.
- Monitor market pricing, supply-demand shifts, product availability, freight conditions, customer trends, and competitive activity.
- Build strong commercial judgment around how pricing, timing, freight, quality, supply, and customer urgency impact deal profitability.
- Source and broker eggs through internal inventory channels and external supplier relationships to help meet customer demand.
- Work closely with Logistics, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, and Sales teams to ensure strong execution from quote to delivery.
- Stay ahead of delays, service issues, order changes, and communication gaps by proactively following up with customers, suppliers, and internal partners.
- Track customer activity, pricing discussions, open opportunities, account notes, order movement, and follow-up items with strong accuracy and organization.
- Prepare customer updates, sales summaries, market notes, pipeline updates, and internal reporting as needed.
- Build long-term relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry partners based on responsiveness, trust, follow-through, and results.
- Represent the company professionally in customer interactions, supplier conversations, industry events, and trade show settings as needed.
- Consistently work toward revenue, gross margin, account growth, and activity targets.
- Operate with urgency, adaptability, ownership, and accountability in a fast-paced, high-volume, high-performance environment.
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in sales, commodity sales, food distribution, brokerage, trading, account management, logistics, purchasing, or a related commercial role.
- Experience in eggs, produce, dairy, protein, food & beverage, wholesale distribution, food manufacturing, or agricultural commodities strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build customer relationships, follow up consistently, identify opportunities, and close business.
- Strong interest in growing into a more advanced egg sales/trading role with increasing account and margin ownership.
- Comfortable discussing pricing, availability, delivery timing, freight considerations, and customer needs in a fast-moving market.
- Developing network of customer, supplier, broker, or industry relationships preferred.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Commercial mindset with curiosity around margin, market movement, supply-demand dynamics, pricing fluctuations, and customer behavior.
- Highly organized and detail-driven, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, orders, conversations, and priorities at once.
- Strong sense of urgency, ownership, accountability, and problem-solving.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ever-evolving environment. You stay focused, flexible, and positive under pressure.
- Solid Excel skills and comfort working with pricing, reports, customer data, market information, and internal systems.
- Familiarity with logistics, freight coordination, purchase orders, delivery timelines, and order execution preferred.
- Experience selling into wholesale, retail, foodservice, food manufacturing, or distribution accounts preferred.
- Entrepreneurial, coachable, competitive, and motivated by revenue growth, margin performance, and long-term relationship building.
- Must be available to work onsite in Irvine, CA Monday through Friday.
