About Funden:

Founders think raising capital is a relationship problem. It's actually a preparation and signal problem. Funden builds the infrastructure that makes investors come to founders: a clean, investor grade deal plus a compounding public signal, instead of chasing warm intros that rarely close.

We work with a limited number of pre seed to Series B founders at a time, by application only. We'd rather tell someone we're not a fit before they apply than after.

That selectivity is the backdrop for this role. You're not talking founders into something they'll regret. You're helping serious operators decide whether an institutional grade process is worth committing to.

Location:

Work from anywhere. Funden operates across San Francisco, New York, and London, and this role can be based wherever you are.

Compensation:

Commission only, uncapped. Warm, pre qualified inbound plus the freedom to build your own outbound pipeline. Full commission structure, ramp expectations, and average deal economics are shared transparently on the first conversation. We'd rather you have the real numbers before you invest your time than after.

About the Role:

This is a full cycle sales role focused on two things: bringing in new leads and closing the inbound ones. The majority of your pipeline is warm. Founders apply through the site, self select on stage and raise size, and arrive already interested. You'll run the interview call, pressure test the deal alongside our team, and close the founders who are genuinely a fit. Alongside that inbound engine, you'll do outbound, sourcing founders and referral relationships that match our profile, to keep the pipeline full between cohorts.

You own the conversation from first call to signed engagement. You'll turn away founders who aren't right, because a bad fit close costs us more than a missed one.

This is a commission only role. There is no base salary. The trade is straightforward: uncapped earnings, warm and pre qualified inbound, a real product with real outcomes behind it, and the autonomy to run your own pipeline. If you close, you earn, with no ceiling on how much.

Your Role Responsibility:

  • Run discovery and qualification calls with inbound founder applicants, pressure testing narrative, stage, and readiness against our fit criteria
  • Close engagements with founders who are a strong fit, and confidently disqualify those who aren't
  • Source outbound leads: founders and referral partners such as operators, angels, and accelerators matching the pre seed to Series B profile
  • Own your pipeline end to end, including forecasting, follow up, and CRM hygiene
  • Translate a nuanced offering (audit, deal materials, and a compounding signal system) into terms a founder can act on
  • Feed the team real signal from the market: which objections recur, which segments convert, what founders actually respond to

Ideal Background:

  • Experienced in a considered, consultative B2B sale, ideally to founders, operators, or finance literate buyers
  • Comfortable, energized even, by a commission only structure, because you back your own ability to close
  • Credible in a room with founders and investors; you can hold a substantive conversation about fundraising, deal quality, and what actually moves capital
  • Genuinely willing to say no to a bad fit deal, and disciplined enough to protect the brand over a short term win
  • Self-directed: you build your own process, manage your own pipeline, and don't wait to be told what to do next

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in venture, startup fundraising, M&A, investment banking, or a founder facing SaaS or fintech sale
  • An existing network in the early-stage startup or investor ecosystem
  • You've raised capital yourself, or sat close enough to the process to speak to it with authority

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
