ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Rivet Education devises simple, practical, and scalable strategies that promote excellent instruction for every student in every classroom, every day. Our work is driven by our core values—equity, quality, and an unwavering commitment to students and teachers—and increasing access to high-quality instructional materials and aligned professional learning.

Specifically, we support education leaders in creating successful strategies to scale the use of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) by:

  • Providing a roadmap for high-quality curriculum implementation—who should be doing what and when
  • Evaluating professional learning providers through the Professional Learning Partner Guide
  • Creating simple and practical resources to smooth the path forward and accelerate progress

Rivet’s Instructional Materials Implementation Tool and Dashboard collect and analyze data on curriculum implementation across the K-12 system to identify trends and next steps for each role: system leaders, school leaders, and teachers.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Rivet Education is seeking a mission-driven, strategic, and entrepreneurial Sales Manager to lead the growth of our products and services in the K–12 market. This individual will initially serve as an individual contributor responsible for selling Rivet’s new Instructional Materials Implementation Dashboard, consulting services, state-specific versions of the Professional Learning Partner Guide, and other products. Over time, this role will evolve into a Director-level position managing a small team of sales professionals as we scale our impact nationwide.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience working with high-quality instructional materials in or with school districts—ideally in roles such as Curriculum Director, Professional Learning Supervisor, or Instructional Materials Lead—and a proven ability to translate educational needs into solutions. Experience selling education products or services is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Lead sales efforts for Rivet’s Instructional Materials Implementation Dashboard with local school districts.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from initial outreach and product demonstrations to proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline using lead-generation software, CRM tools, and data-driven reporting.
  • Prepare for and attend key conferences, state meetings, and district events (up to 20% travel).

Relationship Management & Market Development

  • Build and manage relationships with district and state education leaders to identify needs and tailor Rivet’s solutions.
  • Represent Rivet’s suite of services and products, including consulting, PL Partner Guides, and Implementation Dashboards, focusing on district and state-level partnerships.
  • Gather market insights and customer feedback to inform product enhancements and strategic planning.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with Rivet’s communications and product teams to align messaging, generate qualified leads, and ensure a seamless handoff from sales to service delivery.
  • Over time, recruit, train, and manage a small team of sales professionals as the sales division expands.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in K–12 education, preferably in district or state leadership roles (e.g., curriculum, instruction, or professional learning).
  • 5+ years of experience selling or promoting education products, technology, or services.
  • Strong understanding of HQIM and professional learning ecosystems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, particularly with senior education leaders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a growing organization and launch new products.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) and data-driven sales practices.

Preferred

  • Experience with state-level procurement processes and education funding streams.
  • Knowledge of the professional learning provider landscape and HQIM implementation supports.
  • Demonstrated success managing long, consultative sales cycles in complex education systems.
  • Previous leadership experience managing or mentoring sales or partnership teams.

COMPENSATION

Rivet Education offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience and location. The annual salary for this position will be $100,000–$120,000, plus eligibility to earn a 5% commission on new Dashboard contracts closed. Commissions are paid quarterly based on receipt of initial payment. We offer comprehensive benefits, including a fully paid insurance package for employees (health, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability) and life insurance (100% paid for employee and 50% paid for dependents); a 401k retirement plan with up to a 4% employer match on all contributions; unlimited vacation; and the option for end-of-year bonus based on company and personal performance.

HOW TO APPLY

Please submit your application here. Note: the preferred application deadline is November 21, 2025. After this date, we do not guarantee review of submissions.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
