About the Company:

World is a network of real humans, built on privacy-preserving proof-of-human technology, and powered by a globally inclusive financial network that enables the free flow of digital assets for all. It is built to connect, empower, and be owned by everyone.

About the Team

The Market Operations team oversees the launch strategy and deployment of World operations across all markets. This group drives user adoption by managing partnerships, business development, and or distribution on the ground.

This role sits at the intersection of Sales and Go-to-Market execution in the United States and collaborates closely with cross functional teams, to ensure global and local alignment and operational excellence.

About the Role

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, execution-focused Sales Lead to drive the growth of our commercial efforts in the United States. You’ll spend much of your time in the field, going door-to-door to retail stores, cafés, and restaurants, building partnerships that bring World hardware devices and offers to everyday consumers. This person will play a key role in our go-to-market initiatives — Orbs for All (merchant-hosted Orb deployments) and World ID Rewards (merchant-sponsored offers and loyalty campaigns).

You’ll be directly responsible for hitting merchant acquisition targets and partnering cross-functionally with Product, Device, Logistics and the broader Market Ops org to implement at speed while ensuring compliance and consistency.

This is a foundational role in one of World’s most strategic markets, and an opportunity to shape how America experiences and adopts our protocol.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Execution
  • Own the end-to-end sales funnel for both Orbs for All and World ID Rewards in your city, from merchant acquisition to activation.

  • Personally prospect, pitch, and close merchants directly through door-to-door outreach, ensuring strong early traction and market credibility.

  • Build and execute local go-to-market strategies that align with broader Market Ops and United States specific milestones

  • Leverage internal performance data and market insights to shape merchant targeting, incentive models, and campaign strategy.

  • Prioritize merchant verticals (e.g. convenience, retail, cafés) and test offer structures that drive both user verifications and long-term retention.

Partner & Stakeholder Management
  • Own key merchant relationships in your city..

  • Collaborate closely with the US General Manager and Merchants to deliver on shared goals and ensure integrated execution across sales and Orb deployment.

  • Serve as the commercial liaison with cross-functional teams—including Product, Device, Logistics, and the broader Market Ops—to localize processes and execution.

Operational Excellence
  • Track and report on KPIs including Orb installations, active merchant count, reward redemptions, location performance, and cost per Orb deployed.

  • Ensure compliance with local legal and policy standards for merchant onboarding and user rewards.

  • Design and implement scalable systems for merchant support, asset deployment, and deal performance monitoring.

  • Lead by example, showing your team how to pitch, close, and support merchants through your own direct fieldwork.

  • Foster a culture of resilience, transparency, and accountability across the org.

About You

  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or merchant acquisition. Experience in door-to-door sales, territory management, or retail partnerships (telecom, payments, POS, or loyalty) is strongly preferred.

  • You have experience scaling distributed partner or merchant networks with clear funnel accountability.

  • You’re data-driven and strategic, regularly using performance data, feedback loops, and local insight to fine-tune execution, optimize funnels, and influence broader go-to-market strategy.

  • You’re scrappy, resilient, and comfortable handling high-volume outreach and rejection in pursuit of market penetration.

  • You are mission-aligned, with deep curiosity and belief in privacy-preserving identity and decentralized systems.

Nice to have

  • Experience scaling a merchant network or channel partner ecosystem.

  • Experience in Web3, rewards/loyalty platforms, or identity systems.

  • Familiarity with local consumer behavior, offline retail, or regulatory environments.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
