Sales Engineering unlocks and empowers prospects’ full potential on the Plaid Network. We bring product expertise and drive Revenue outcomes by being customer-obsessed technical advisors in the pre-sales process. You’ll work closely with our Fintech Sales team as the technical lead during the pre-sales process. You will be responsible for partnering with Account Executives, proactively pushing deals forward by overcoming technical objections and building solutions around Plaid products. You will ensure a successful transition to the post-sale stage of the customer lifecycle and partner with account teams to drive adoption of new products by existing customers. You will be expected to have significant knowledge of the Fintech ecosystem and a deep understanding of how customers can best utilize Plaid.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery and solution design for major Fintech prospects, ensuring alignment on architecture, integration patterns, and best practices throughout the sales cycle
- Showcase Plaid's value by demonstrating how our products address a prospect's use cases, technical requirements, and business goals
- Engage deeply with technical stakeholders, including engineers, architects, and product leaders, to drive trust, alignment, and technical buy-in
- Deliver world-class pre-sales support, including product demos, answering technical questions, architecting solutions, and crafting thorough and timely responses to RFPs
- Lead hands-on POCs, applying curiosity and critical thinking to identify issues, diagnose root causes, and propose resolutions that validate Plaid's capabilities
- Continuously refine our selling motion by updating technical assets, improving messaging, and contributing to scalable processes that help the team operate more effectively
- Advocate for customers internally through collobration with Product and Engineering teams to inform roadmap and feature development
- Contribute to team excellence by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and helping elevate the capabilities of the Sales Engineering team
Requirements
- 7+ years of customer facing experience selling to large enterprises
- A strong sense of customer empathy
- A background that combines business experience, sales skills and technical acumen.
- Strong communications skills with a confident and proactive approach to customer communication
- Ability to quickly understand new technologies and complex concepts
- Knowledge of web services, APIs, and related standards such as HTTP and REST.
- Knowledge of mobile and web application architecture specific to interfacing with API platforms
- Willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time
- Nice to have: Payments, Fraud and/or Credit experience
