The Position
- Sales engineers specialize in technologically advanced products, applications, and implementations where they can assess various applications and environments to help select the right product/solution, then develop an implementation plan to support the sales process. The Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for combining their technical knowledge along with sales support skills to provide guidance and full end-to-end support to sales and our customers on a range of products and applications. The main objective of the technical sales engineer is to work with sales and our customers to best understand the customer expectations of the application, environment, and needs to ensure that the right product/solution is selected, while preparing all parties to efficiently, install, support, and service the defined solution.
- The Technical Sales Engineer will report to the VP of Sales Engineering and Product Support and will collaborate with product management, sales, supply chain, and service teams to support business opportunities across various verticals, channels, and business models, with an initial focus on successful implementation of complex commercial ice products. This role requires a hands-on approach to defining effective product solutions and supporting the successful implementation of the complex product offerings.
- The engineer will have an added focus on understanding unique customer needs, considerations, and environmental situations that could impact product performance and client expectations within the category and will contribute to future product considerations. They will oversee the end-to-end rollout of complex product implementations with sales and will have the ability to manage customer opportunities that are early in design and development all the way through execution, working closely with cross-functional teams across Sales, Marketing, Customer Care, Service, and Supply Chain to ensure effective execution and value delivery.
Responsibilities
- Understanding the technical specifications and capabilities of products/services offered by the company
- Provide technical advice and support to Sales and customers on product selection based on the individual customer needs and environment/application. Demonstrate the technical features and benefits of products to potential customers
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to Sales and customers explaining product options and service capabilities that match with customer needs and expectations
- Responsible for examining technical drawings and blueprints to determine project specifications and requirements, including dimensions, tolerances, and materials
- Sharing historical experience, product knowledge, and rationale to support product choices, and installation recommendations
- Planning and modification of products to meet customer needs
- Collaborating with colleagues in sales, service, supply chain, and product management to achieve company objectives
- Providing after-sales support and maintaining strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business
Requirements
- Must Have:
- Strong technical background in products within the ice segment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that provide a unique ability to to build and maintain relationships with customers and sales
- Demonstrated success in understanding complex product solutions and implementations
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and articulate comprehensive value propositions and cases for new products and solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of sales and satisfied customer service
- Must be:
- Highly motivated and innovative, with a resilient and energetic approach to reaching solutions and achieving business goals.
- A strong collaborator, comfortable working across multi-functional teams from the front line to management.
- An effective communicator, adept at developing interpersonal relationships across various internal teams as well as customers.
- Skilled at at identifying technical issues and customer needs that inform future product considerations or solution designs.

- A pragmatic problem solver with a track record of identifying and executing solutions for complex installations
- Effective at time management, prioritizing large scale installations with service to execute in a timely fashion.
- Preferred experience:
- 7 plus years of experience in a technical role directly related to our products
- Proven track record in product sales and technical support
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including PowerPoint
- Highly technical with experience in water filtration, dispensing, plumbing, electrical, and/or refrigeration
- Experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- BA/BS degree preferred
