About The Role

We are looking for a Sales Director to lead our Membership Sales team, responsible for sourcing and converting sales qualified leads. As Sales Director, you will take on a small team of highly motivated inside sales reps as well as a Sales Ops lead, with the opportunity to grow the team in the near term. You will oversee 1:1 and 1:many sales tactics and help to build out an outbound sales program. The right candidate will bring a balance of sales and data savvy and will be able to quickly up-level what it means to do sales at Fora.

This role is a great opportunity for a strategic sales leader who is passionate both about running a great sales operation, as well as about coaching and developing a team. You will report to the VP, Growth & Data, and will collaborate closely with Marketing, Data, Advisor Activation, and Product as we build an excellent growth and acquisition ecosystem that drives overall business growth and performance.

Key Responsibilities

First 1-2 months

  • Take over day-to-day team management, familiarizing yourself with existing team workflows and reporting to quickly come up to speed on the basics of sales at Fora
  • Weed through legacy processes to identify and implement any quick wins that improve team impact, whether commercial or operational
  • Accelerate the build-out of outbound sales efforts
  • Understand sales goals and begin to participate in forecasting and goalsetting
  • Hire 1-3 additional team members

Over time, you will also

  • Iterate reporting to deliver insights that inform marketing, growth forecasting, advisor experience, and product development efforts
  • Institute a sales forecasting, goalsetting, and incentive plan approach that works for Fora's stage and goals
  • Develop and begin to deliver on your perspective on go-forward sales team structure
  • Test different sales formats, e.g., field sales
Requirements

You will be joining a team of results-oriented problem solvers and we believe those two qualities enable you to thrive and grow at Fora. To be successful in this specific role, we believe you need 5-7 years of sales experience with the following demonstrated skills:

  • People management within a sales organization - you know how to harness a team of engaged junior staff and are excited to coach and motivate them with career growth in mind
  • Fluency in sales tooling, from CRM (we use Hubspot) to outbound sourcing and able to assess which tools are value-add for Fora’s use case (Gong, Clay, etc.)
  • Ability to weave AI into sales processes to scale the impact of the team while keeping human connection at the forefront
  • Keen eye for sales metrics - whether you are building your own graphs or asking the right questions to get valuable insight from sales ops or data

The strongest candidates will also likely have some if not all of the following skills:

  • Understanding of email a/b testing best practices for 1:many conversion efforts, with ability to lead those efforts
  • Experience building sales incentive plans to recognize individual behavior that contributes to team and company-wide success
  • Travel industry experience
  • Bonus points for lean operations mindset or background
Compensation

Compensation range for this role can vary widely depending on experience, and for this role an indicative range is $140-$180k + equity + annual incentive compensation. Other benefits include:

  • Unlimited vacation
  • Health Insurance (including an option completely covered by Fora HQ)
  • Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Wellhub Memberships
  • 401k plan with company match
  • Commuter Benefits
  • Supplemental Life Insurance
  • Stock Options

This role is based in our beautiful New York City office (Tribeca/Fidi) with lots of natural light and great views.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
