As a Founding Sales Development Representative, you'll drive outbound sales, conduct cold outreach, refine sales playbooks, and grow the customer pipeline for an AI healthcare startup.
The summary above was generated by AI

At Serene, we automate healthcare payer portal workflows using AI computer-use agents. Healthcare teams still spend thousands of hours manually logging into insurance portals like Availity, UHC, Cigna, and Aetna to complete prior authorizations, claim status checks, appeals, and other reimbursement workflows. We’re building AI agents that can log in, navigate those portals, and complete the work automatically.

Our team comes from Microsoft, UnitedHealthcare, and Mayo Clinic. We recently raised our first round of capital, deployed our first paid customers, and are now looking to scale our outbound sales motion.

We’re hiring a Founding Sales Development Representative to help us generate pipeline and grow toward $1M ARR.

Role: Founding SDR / Outbound Operator

We’re looking for someone hungry, coachable, and high-agency who wants to help scale outbound sales from the ground up at an early-stage AI healthcare startup. This person will work directly with the founders and own a large part of our top-of-funnel sales effort.

Responsibilities:

  • Cold call and email healthcare organizations
  • Research accounts and build targeted lead lists
  • Book qualified customer meetings
  • Track objections, prospect feedback, and what messaging is working
  • Help us refine our sales playbook as we scale

Ideal candidate:

  • Strong written and verbal communicator
  • Comfortable cold calling and handling rejection
  • Organized, fast-moving, and reliable
  • Interested in startups, sales, healthcare, or AI
  • Prior SDR or sales experience is helpful, but not required

Location: In-person in San Francisco, or willing to relocate.
Compensation: Salary + commission + equity
Timing: We’re looking to hire as soon as possible

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
