Summary
GrayMatter Robotics is a well-capitalized Physical AI company headquartered in Los Angeles, building Factory SuperIntelligence (FSI) through systems that learn, adapt, and develop genuine process intelligence across every part they touch. Our robots take on the tedious, hazardous, and ergonomically demanding work that has kept manufacturing dependent on a shrinking skilled workforce, delivering superhuman performance. Robotics has a demo problem. GMR doesn't. Our systems are in active production today, adapting autonomously to real geometries, real materials, and real process variation without reprogramming. We deliver our system through a Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) model that converts capital expenditure into an operating subscription, making Physical AI accessible to the manufacturers who need it most. We hire people who want to solve hard physical problems at an industrial scale.
Reprogramming a robot for a new part used to cost engineers hundreds of hours. Not anymore. GMR's AI-driven robotic cells scan the part, write their own program, and start working in minutes, the kind of shift that's transforming how manufacturing gets done.
Built on proprietary GMR-AI Models and a growing portfolio of 21 patents, GMR integrates industrial robots, sensors, and tools into a consultative Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) model centered on worker augmentation: revolutionizing the human-robot mix so every worker becomes more capable, while every robot becomes more capable.
As a Strategic Sales Development Representative, you're a builder. You'll chase new opportunities, expand into new manufacturing markets, and help construct GMR's outbound sales engine from the ground floor, defining the processes that scale as the company scales. You'll keep our outbound approach current with the latest AI capabilities, so outreach at GMR stays cutting edge. This role sits within our Marketing team and creates qualified opportunities for our Account Executives.
Role & Responsibilities
Develop a deep and continually evolving understanding of GMR's products, and of how they map to the unique manufacturing processes across different industries. This role rewards a fast, voracious, curious learner who can move from product mechanics to industry-specific value in a single conversation.
Engage prospects consultatively: understand their business challenges, operational needs, and potential fit before you pitch anything. Treat every call like a consultation, mapping their business objectives against GMR's solutions to select the most aligned opportunities for our Account Executives. Discernment is key.
Build and run high-volume, multi-channel outreach (cold calling, personalized email, social) that finds inventive paths to decision-makers, testing and adopting new AI-enabled outreach tools and tactics as they emerge so GMR's outbound stays ahead of the market.
Emphasize in-person selling: GMR is putting growing weight on tradeshows, conferences, and other in-person events to diversify how we reach prospects. You should be just as strong working a room as you are working a phone line.
Book appointments and demos for the sales team, keep prospect records accurate, and translate each customer's problems and goals clearly to the AE. We believe accurate, incisive internal communication is the fuel that keeps a sales engine running smoothly.
We value results, not strict call volume. If your call strategy is broken, fix it. If it's winning, we'll systemize it and add it to our playbook. We want builders who think outside of the box and make the whole team better.
Provide regular feedback on lead quality, market conditions, and campaign effectiveness, feeding directly into how the outbound engine evolves. Adapt your approach as the team grows and strategy evolves.
Minimum Qualifications
Evidence of persuasion and outreach skill from any arena: launching a brand, competitive debate, fundraising, or campus organizing. Point us to content that moved an audience, cold outreach that actually landed, or anything else that makes the case for why you'll excel here regardless.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to craft a compelling message and hold your own on the phone or in an inbox.
6+ months of experience operating effectively in a role with limited context and taking ownership of ambiguous problems without waiting for complete instructions.
Experience incorporating structured feedback in real time (call coaching, pitch reviews, manager notes) to improve performance within a role.
Experience working in a fast-paced or high-growth environment with frequently changing priorities or processes.
Strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams to move deals forward.
Experience demonstrating resilience and a results-driven mindset; able to sustain motivation and a positive approach through consistent rejection.
You're a fast learner who absorbs new information quickly, takes feedback well, and continuously sharpens your pitch and outreach.
Must secure work authorization in the United States and maintain ongoing work authorization beginning at the time of hire through the entirety of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
1-2+ years in a sales-oriented role, ideally as an SDR, BDR, or AE with a strong track record in outbound prospecting (cold calling, email, LinkedIn).
