About Wayground

Wayground (formerly Quizizz) is a global learning platform on a mission to motivate every learner by empowering every educator. Teachers in 150+ countries use it, with 75 million monthly active users, and 90% of U.S. schools rely on it to engage students.

We are a high-growth, profitable SaaS company backed by Tiger Global, GSV and Nexus Venture Partners. We are now building our international schools business across Southeast Asia, and this role is one of the first on the ground.

The role

We're hiring a field-focused Sales Development Representative to build Wayground's pipeline with international schools in Thailand, Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia region. You'll be based in Bangkok and spend a meaningful share of your time at education events, conferences and school visits across SEA.

This is not a desk-only SDR role. You will run events end to end on your own: represent Wayground at the booth, start conversations with school leaders, capture leads on the spot, and nurture them into qualified demos for our Account Executives. Between events, you'll use Clay, LinkedIn Sales Navigator and AI tools to find and reach the right decision-makers in each school.

What you will do

Own events across SEA

  • Represent Wayground independently at education conferences, international school association events (e.g. FOBISIA, EARCOS, ISAT), workshops and school visits.
  • Plan your event presence end to end: pre-event outreach to book meetings, booth setup, product demos, and post-event follow-up.
  • Capture every lead on-site using our lead-capture tools and log them in the CRM the same day.
  • Nurture conversations during and right after the event so warm interest turns into booked demos, not a cold list.

Build pipeline between events

  • Research and map target international schools, identifying the right stakeholders: Heads of School, Principals, Curriculum and Academic Directors, Heads of Digital Learning / EdTech Coordinators, IT leads and procurement.
  • Build targeted lead lists and enrich contact data using Clay, LinkedIn Sales Navigator and AI research tools.
  • Run personalised, multi-channel outreach (email, LinkedIn, phone, WhatsApp/LINE where appropriate) tailored to each school's curriculum (IB, British, American) and priorities.
  • Qualify prospects against our criteria and hand off sales-ready opportunities to Account Executives, staying involved after handover.

Keep the engine running

  • Keep the CRM accurate and up to date on every lead, touchpoint and next step.
  • Report on event ROI and pipeline generated, and share what's working with sales and marketing.
  • Feed market insight from schools back into our regional go-to-market plan.
Who you are
  • EdTech sales experience is mandatory: 2+ years in SDR, BDR or sales roles selling to schools, ideally K–12 or international schools.
  • Proven track record of generating pipeline at events: you're comfortable working a booth alone, approaching school leaders and turning short conversations into meetings.
  • Hands-on with modern prospecting tools: Clay, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, a CRM (HubSpot or Salesforce) and AI tools for research and personalised outreach.
  • Skilled at stakeholder mapping: you know how decisions get made in a school and how to reach the right people.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with limited supervision in a new market.
  • Open to frequent travel across Southeast Asia (Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines and others).
  • Strong written and spoken English; comfortable presenting to senior school leaders.
Nice to have
  • An established network within international schools across Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand or Malaysia, or prior experience working with international schools.
  • Familiarity with international curricula (IB, IGCSE/British, American) and school purchasing cycles in Southeast Asia.
  • Proficiency in Thai, Bahasa Malaysia, Vietnamese, or Mandarin is a plus.
  • Experience using sales engagement platforms (e.g., Outreach, Apollo) and event lead-capture tools.
How success is measured

You'll be measured on qualified pipeline, not activity alone:

  • Qualified demos/opportunities handed to Account Executives each month.
  • Leads captured and converted per event (event ROI).
  • Coverage of key stakeholders across target international schools.
  • CRM hygiene and speed of follow-up after each event.

Benefits: This is an independent contractor position and does not include company-sponsored employee benefits. All terms of engagement will be subject to applicable local laws and regulations in Thailand or Malaysia, depending on the contractor’s location.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
