About Speakeasy

Speakeasy began in the developer tooling space by building a toolchain for powering API developer experience. With the rise of AI and since the launch of MCP, we have expanded into helping teams build, secure, observe, and distribute AI tools across their organization.

Our customers today include leading tech companies and fortune 100 enterprises such as Mistral AI, Vercel, PlanetScale, Verizon, and Docusign.

We were founded in 2021 and have already hit important revenue milestones. We have raised funding from top-notch VC and angel investors who share our vision, and have significant runway remaining.

Our team is split between San Francisco and London, with offices in both locations. We work best together in person. This role is based in our San Francisco office four days a week, with one day remote. We meet up and spend a week together roughly every quarter.

About the role

As a Sales Development Representative, you will be the first point of contact for prospective customers of the Speakeasy AI Control Plane. You'll research and prospect into target accounts, run multi-channel outbound sequences, qualify inbound leads, and book meetings that turn into real pipeline for our Account Executive team. Every enterprise buyer is already having the "how do we adopt AI safely" conversation. Your job is to make sure Speakeasy is part of it. This is a high-activity, high-impact role at a company where what you're selling is the conversation the market is already trying to have.

The problems you’ll solve
  • Prospecting: Identify and qualify potential leads within the developer and B2B software space through various channels, including cold calling, email outreach, and social selling.

  • Lead Qualification: Conduct initial conversations with prospects to understand their pain points, budget, and decision-making authority. Utilize a consultative approach to assess their needs and how Speakeasy can address them.

  • Pipeline Management: Manage your assigned lead pipeline effectively, using CRM software to track progress, qualify leads, and provide accurate forecasts.

  • Product Demonstrations: Schedule and conduct engaging product demos for qualified leads, showcasing Speakeasy's features and benefits in a way that resonates with developers.

  • Sales Enablement: Support the Account Executive team with research, account context, and clean handoffs that set deals up for success.

  • Customer Relationship Building: Establish initial relationships with potential customers and nurture them through the sales process, building trust and demonstrating Speakeasy's value proposition.

About You
  • 0-2 years of experience in sales, business development, or a customer-facing role.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Your outreach is concise, relevant, and sounds like a human wrote it.

  • Intellectually curious about AI and how enterprises adopt new technology. You don't need a technical background, but you should want to understand what we sell and why it matters.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage high volumes of accounts, follow-ups, and competing priorities.

  • Comfortable with rejection and able to maintain momentum in a high-activity outbound motion.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

Who We’re Looking For
  • High ownership and autonomy: you figure out what needs to happen and make it happen without waiting to be told

  • Coachable: you take feedback, apply it fast, and iterate.

  • Naturally curious about the product: you want to understand what the AI Control Plane does and why it matters, not just read from a script

  • Respects how we operate and raises the bar: we are ambitious, passionate about what we do, and seek to be exceptional. If you are looking for a place to clock in and out, we are likely not a good fit for you

Benefits
  • Salary ~ $95K OTE

  • Generous equity

  • Competitive Pay

  • 100% employer-covered medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) plan

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Lunch provided in office from some of the best restaurants in San Francisco!

  • Annual off-sites with the entire team (previous locations: 2024 - Lisbon, 2025 - Mexico City, 2026 - Madrid!)

  • Work with a fun, collaborative, ambitious team

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
