Position Overview

We are seeking a driven and relationship-focused Sales & Account Manager to join our team. This is a multi-dimensional role that blends new business development, consultative selling, customer success, and ongoing account management - all within the self-storage and RV parks and campgrounds industries. Our core products are data-driven market intelligence tools that provide operators, investors, and industry professionals with market-centric analysis and actionable insights. Additional offerings include APIs, custom data reports, and a real estate listings platform. The ideal candidate brings direct knowledge of the self-storage sector and can speak credibly to the needs and language of operators, investors, and brokers.

Success in this role requires someone who can open doors, communicate the value of data-driven decision-making, nurture long-term relationships, and ensure customers are supported well beyond the initial sale.

Job Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Prospect, qualify, and close new business across target customer segments within the self-storage and RV parks and campgrounds industries
  • Sell data products, market intelligence subscriptions, API access, and custom data reports tailored to the needs of operators, investors, and industry professionals
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies to grow the customer base across the full product suite, including listings platform advertising for brokers
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets
  • Present solutions effectively to a range of stakeholders - from owner-operators and management companies to institutional buyers, brokers, and data-driven investors

Customer Success & Relationship Management

  • Guide customers through the onboarding process, ensuring a smooth and well-supported experience from contract signing through activation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the customer lifecycle, providing a high level of service and responsiveness
  • Proactively check in with clients post-sale to assess satisfaction, identify upsell opportunities, and resolve any issues
  • Educate customers on product features, data interpretation, and best practices for leveraging market intelligence to maximize the value of their subscription or engagement
  • Act as a trusted advisor, offering consultative support rooted in an understanding of the self-storage and RV parks and campgrounds markets

Account Management

  • Manage and grow an assigned book of accounts, maintaining strong retention and renewal rates
  • Track account health, engagement, and performance metrics; develop action plans for at-risk accounts
  • Identify opportunities to expand relationships through additional products, services, or platform features
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer interactions and pipeline activity in CRM
  • Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, product, support) to advocate for customer needs and provide feedback

Industry Events & Trade Shows

  • Represent the brand and product offerings at self-storage industry conferences and trade shows, typically 2-3 major national events per year
  • Attend regional and local industry events as needed to build relationships, generate leads, and stay current on market trends
  • Engage prospects and existing accounts at events through booth presence, networking, and presentations, converting event interactions into pipeline opportunities
  • Provide post-event follow-up and reporting to ensure leads and commitments are captured and acted upon in a timely manner
Candidate Profile

Required

  • Demonstrated experience in a sales role - ideally combining new business development with account management
  • Meaningful knowledge of or direct experience within the self-storage industry (operations, investment, brokerage, or related services); familiarity with RV parks and campgrounds is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust and credibility with a variety of stakeholders
  • Comfort operating in a consultative sales environment with longer relationship cycles
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and general sales tools

Preferred

  • Prior experience selling data products, SaaS platforms, market intelligence tools, or digital media - particularly in a real estate or commercial property context
  • Established relationships with self-storage brokers, operators, or investors
  • Familiarity with APIs and how data integrations work; a general understanding of MCP (Model Context Protocol) layers and automated workflows is a plus
  • Experience selling to or working alongside commercial real estate professionals, and familiarity with how brokers and buyers use listing platforms
  • Willingness and ability to travel for industry events; estimated 2-3 national conferences per year plus occasional regional events

What Success Looks Like

  • Revenue targets are met with a healthy mix of new business and account expansion across the full product suite
  • Customers feel well-supported throughout their journey - from first contact through renewal - and refer others as a result
  • Accounts are retained at a high rate due to strong service, engagement, and demonstrated product value
  • Internal teams benefit from clear customer feedback and insights surfaced through close account relationships
  • New brokers and advertisers are consistently brought onto the listings platform through proactive outreach and relationship-building

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
