Manage the sales process for Graphite Financial, engaging with startups to provide accounting and finance services, and support client growth.

Graphite Financial is a growing boutique finance, accounting, tax, and strategy firm (www.graphitefinancial.com) built to help startup and high-growth companies scale efficiently and sustainably. Graphite Financial is redefining the “finance department” for early-stage companies and VC-backed startups. We deliver high-caliber accounting and finance leadership and support to entrepreneurs and management teams building scalable, high-growth companies. Our clients are actively managing cash burn, measuring performance, reporting to investors, making capital allocation decisions, and preparing for fundraising. All of that takes expertise and time that founders don’t have and can’t afford to hire for. Graphite bridges the gap with flexible, fixed-fee support packages that provide fractional leadership and operational support from CFOs, Controllers, FP&A Managers, and Tax leaders.

Account Executive (Accounting & Finance Services), Remote

Graphite Financial helps startups build and scale with confidence through world-class accounting, finance, and tax services. We act as a full finance team for high-growth companies — fractional CFOs, accountants, and analysts who help founders focus on building while we handle the numbers.

We’re looking for an Account Executive who knows the accounting and finance world — someone who’s sold professional services (accounting, bookkeeping, CFO advisory, or similar) and can connect with founders, controllers, and finance leaders in their language.

About the Role

You’ll be the first point of contact for prospective clients and will manage the full sales process from first conversation to signed engagement. You’ll also help identify opportunities to expand existing relationships — ensuring clients continue to grow with Graphite as their needs evolve. Working closely with our Growth, Finance, and Accounting teams, you’ll scope projects, align client needs with our service model, and help drive sustainable firm growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead consultative conversations with founders, accountants, and finance leaders to uncover their goals and challenges.
  • Manage the full sales cycle — from qualification to proposal to close — with precision and follow-through.
  • Collaborate with internal finance and accounting teams to scope accurate, customized engagements.
  • Identify and support renewal and expansion opportunities within existing client relationships.
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets through consistent, relationship-driven performance.
  • Maintain clear, accurate pipeline visibility in HubSpot, ensuring timely updates and proactive follow-up.
  • Generate new opportunities through outreach, community engagement, and partnerships within the startup and accounting ecosystems.
  • Represent Graphite at select events, building relationships and identifying prospects.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement of sales processes and playbooks, sharing insights to help refine our approach.

Compensation

  • The total OTE pay range for this role, including base salary and commission, is 105,000–170,000+ USD per year. *Base pay is commensurate on experience. Commission is not guaranteed.

Requirements
  • 3+ years in B2B sales, ideally selling accounting, CFO, finance, or other adjacent professional services. We will also consider a diverse background of B2B products and services in lieu of financial services experience.
  • Deep understanding of the financial services industry (client facing accounting, tax, and finance services) highly preferred. This means you know how accounting functions operate — you can hold your own in conversations about cash flow, forecasting, or client capacity.
  • Experience working in HubSpot (highly preferred) or other CRM tools to manage a structured sales process.
  • Proven success in both new business and expansion/renewal sales — you know how to grow accounts as well as land them.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for client or industry events.
Our Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • A passion for startups and an understanding of their unique challenges and opportunities is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills — you lead with curiosity and insight.
  • Strong organization and time management; able to juggle multiple priorities and maintain momentum across deals.
  • Comfort in a startup environment where agility, adaptability, and initiative are key.
You’ll love working at Graphite because:
  • Balance. We encourage you to take time to recharge outside of the office. You’ll have flexible PTO to enjoy life outside of work.
  • We’re not just an employer. We’re real people who care about our team. We offer insurance coverage (health, vision, and dental).
  • We’ll invest in your career. Our company is growing quickly, and we’ll give you the opportunity to do the same. You’ll have access to many professional development opportunities so that you can keep up with the company’s evolving needs. This position will have a real opportunity to influence growth strategy and career trajectory as we scale
  • We’re creating an environment where everyone can thrive. Our customers are global and diverse, so we’re building a team that is, too.
  • We offer competitive compensation packages. We deeply value the talent our team brings to the table and believe that fair and equitable total compensation packages are part of our commitment to everyone who works here, including a 401k match.
  • You get to work with the coolest startups around! Your days at Graphite will be filled with conversing with, supporting, and learning from the most innovative people and startups on the planet!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
