Who we are:

Nirvana is on a mission to harness the power of data to revolutionize commercial insurance and enable a safer world. We are bringing much-needed innovation into the legacy, trillion-dollar commercial insurance industry. We have developed cutting-edge predictive models that use real-time IoT data from billions of connected devices, allowing us to better understand and price risk. Our AI-driven platform fundamentally changes the way an insurance company operates with personalized risk scoring, faster underwriting, modernized claims, and proactive, data-driven insights to help customers prevent accidents.

We’ve already proven the scale—reaching well over $100 million in premiums and more than doubling year over year. Our data moat is growing exponentially with more than 20 billion miles of telematics data, leading to more predictive models and new insights into how we can better understand and reduce risk. Altogether, our loss ratio, efficiency, and customer experience are redefining what can be done in the industry.

With $170+ million raised, including an industry-leading Series C round in January 2025, we’re only accelerating our growth, with strong support from top-tier VCs including Lightspeed, General Catalyst, and Valor. Nirvana’s leadership team has previously helped scale multi-billion-dollar companies from scratch, including Samsara, Rubrik, and Flexport, and includes industry veterans from Hiscox, The Hartford, and RLI.

About the role:

As a Fleet Safety Manager, you’ll be the face of Nirvana's safety services—building strong, trust-based relationships with our insured fleets. You’ll combine your industry expertise and love for innovation to help clients improve safety performance and unlock the full value of our platform.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the primary safety contact for all assigned accounts, from onboarding through ongoing service.

  • Send welcome emails, activate client dashboards, and walk customers through their first login.

  • Lead onboarding and loss control sessions (virtually or on-site).

  • Conduct quarterly check-ins with accounts, documenting interactions and follow-ups with non-responsive clients.

  • Track client engagement and progress using internal tools and systems.

  • Monitor safety trends and proactively address declining metrics.

  • Coordinate with the safety team to plan and optimize travel to customer sites.

  • Manage travel logistics and submit expense reports in a timely manner.

  • Support clients with safety-related needs including DataQ assistance, policy review, training recommendations, and more.

  • Provide account-specific safety insights to underwriting when needed.

  • Collaborate with the broader safety team on training content, newsletters, product improvements, and customer events.

About you:

  • 5–7+ years of experience as a Safety Manager or Director within the trucking industry.

  • Deep knowledge of FMCSA regulations, CSA scores, and DOT compliance.

  • Proficiency with telematics and fleet technology (ELDs, dash cams, etc.).

  • Strong understanding of driver qualification and training programs.

  • Exposure to various types of trucking operations (e.g., dry van, tanker, flatbed).

  • Excellent communication skills—empathetic, clear, and customer-service oriented.

  • A passion for safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Comfortable using and learning new technologies, including AI-driven platforms.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% and perform on-site loss control visits as needed.

  • Preferred: NATMI Certified Director of Safety (CDS) designation.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
