Summary:
Assists Safety Manager in coordinating and implementing Safety programs to prevent, reduce and eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses. To train and present safety processes, protocols and requirements. To be the leader of the Safety Committee.
Job Description:
- Identifies by daily walks/audits and appraises any conditions that could produce accidents and financial
- Enforces our accident prevention and loss control systems and programs
- Assist in the implementation of safety activities with department managers to ensure a safe plant which can include leading inspections and training sessions.
- Lead both the Safety Committee and STOP Card Program which includes follow up on Action Items and monthly Safety Committee Team plant audits
- Provide statistical data of Stop Card findings and report monthly
- Assist with incident tracking to provide statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents and prepares reports for information of personnel This will also include timely and proper filing of documents.
- Promote Safety and Health accountability within all departments.
- Provide weekly report to supervisors of attendance to 7-Minute Trainers and provide follow up training
- Perform Safety portion of our Onboarding Program for new hires as well as any needed additional group or individual safety training.
- Conduct Machine Safety Audits including LOTO
- Conduct Safety behavior audit for PPE and all safety processes
- Learn and assist with Hazardous and Risk Assessment trainings.
- Conduct Daily and General inspections to look for hazards
- Perform Weekly Safety walks with employee engagement and report all findings and observations
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Act as a liaison between the plant and vendors/contractors regarding safety.
- Maintain up-to-date Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all hazardous chemicals.
- Provide recommendations for improving workplace safety.
Assist with the following:
- Assuring safe working conditions during startups and
- Coordinating the maintenance and repair of fire protection systems
- Assuring all signage is in place and not in need of repair/replacement
- Site security
- Record-keeping/filling requirements
- Training new-hires, contractors
- Annual training for crews and maintenance personnel
- Maintaining and properly packaging of recycle wastes (bulbs, batteries etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Commitment to safety and must be able to identify safety improvement opportunities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills: General ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form
- Demonstrate organizational skills
- Demonstrate ability to excel with minimal supervision
