Job Description:

Train, monitor and assist all employees in the Gulf of Mexico and Suriname in all aspects of Bristow Group Safety Management System (SMS) and Safety Information System (SIS).  The primary advisor to the Safety Manager for all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs.  Ensures all areas of the business are focused on achieving quarterly and annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to achieve Target Zero.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs as the lead for all safety topics in the Business Unit;
  • Monitors and as required, provides training of business unit employees on Safety policies, procedures, and regulations;
  • Interfaces with customer base, government officials, and external auditors;
  • Manages the participation in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections;
  • Provides inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures;
  • Serves as a lead for all Safety Review Meetings;
  • Acts as an expert safety and quality assurance advisor to health and safety administration team, and business unit leadership regarding projects, tasks, and operations;
  • Conduct field base audits, inspections, investigations, and visits (some travel required);
  • Coordinates all HSE/ENV issues directly with Area and Base Managers;
  • Monitors the removal of physical, biological, chemical hazards;
  • Models and Promotes an organizational culture that fosters safety practices through effective leadership;
  • Participates in TSA security initiatives as a back-up as needed for customer and regulatory requirements;
  • Assists in the coordination of MoC process and documentation;
  • Assists with the safety statistical analysis of the Business Unit;
  • Other tasks assigned by the Safety Manager

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an Aviation or related field
  • Preferred certification as a pilot or AMT;
  • 10 years’ experience of related aviation operations (preferably rotor craft);
  • Must have some experience in the following areas; Safety Management, System Safety, Quality Management, Quality Auditing;
  • Willingness to assist Managers, Directors and staff at the highest level of professionalism;
  • Proven project management and analytical skills;
  • Broad operational knowledge and experience in the functions of the Company (e.g. training management, aircraft operations, air traffic management, aerodrome operations, and maintenance organization management;
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.  Experience in Visio, Adobe, and Database expertise is desired;
  • Must be able to read and interpret regulations and standards;
  • Must be able to handle a variety of assignments and handle multiple tasks. This at times may include changing priorities and/or deadlines;
  • Must be able to travel based on operational needs;

  • Must be organized and be able to work effectively independently and as a team with a large and varied workload;
  • Ability to start and finish projects with minimal supervision;
