Job Responsibilities:
The Robotics Technician is responsible for modifying existing automation control systems and designing, estimating, and commissioning new ones integrated with Robots based on PLC's. They implement Safety Category 4 for installations, presses, and robotics work cells and integrate equipment with robots and testing instruments. The engineer troubleshoots process problems, participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives, and maintains automated work cells, mechanical, and hydraulic presses. They also set up and conduct maintenance programs, follow standardized work instructions/procedures, and ensure compliance with customer requirements and quality, health and safety, and environmental standards.

- Responsible for modifying existing automation control systems as well as designing, estimating, and commissioning new automation control systems integrated with Robots based on PLC's
- Implement Safety Category 4 for all required installations, presses and robotics work cells
- Integrate equipment with robots and various testing and monitoring instruments
- Troubleshoot process problems and initiative and/or participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives and quality improvements
- Maintain and service automated work cells; mechanical and hydraulic presses
- Set up and conduct predictive and preventative maintenance programs for required equipment
- Perform all work in good standard, respond to off duty calls, and work rotating shifts if required.
- Follow all work cell and/or department standardized work instructions/procedures.
- Ensure compliance and enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements, QMS (IATF16949), Health and Safety
- (ISO 45001), EMS (ISO14001), and security (PIP) requirements.
- Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Promote and comply with health, safety, and environmental standards, safe operating procedures, good housekeeping practices and the observance of protective equipment requirements at all times.
- Attend authorized training in order to develop and/or maintain relevant job-related knowledge, techniques, skills, and/or certification.
- May be required to carry out job duties and responsibilities in a work environment that may include, but is not limited to, varying levels of noise and/or temperature.
- Perform any other reasonable duty as required or assigned by Management
Qualifications:
- Post- Secondary education in Robotics / Automation
- Must have experience in Mig, Stick and Tig welding
- Must have PLC programming and Troubleshooting experience with Allen Bradley Rs Logix and Studio 5000.
- Must have experience working with Vision System such as Keyence 2D, 3D and barcode scanners, Cognex camera etc.
- Must have full understanding of fundamentals in projection welding and Mig welding
- Able to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated
- Certification in one or more robot programming courses (ABB, Fanuc, Panasonic)
- Medar programming experience
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to Create, manipulate and follow robot programs for ABB, Fanuc, Panasonic for repair and modification purposes
