PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive Internal Control & Risk Processes: Lead the implementation of internal control and risk management across the Region, adapting to operational realities while ensuring alignment with Group frameworks, policies, and minimum control standards.
- Strategic Business Partner: Act as a trusted advisor to regional and local leadership by facilitating regular risk and control updates, tracking key deficiencies and actions, and contributing to Region Finance leadership meetings.
- Competency Development: Partner with Regional management to build talents and internal control capabilities among process owners, control owners, performers, risk and internal control champions across countries.
- Methodology, Frameworks & Tools: Contribute to the evolution and application of Group-wide risk and control methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with global and regional functions, internal and external audits, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment, compliance, and continuous improvement.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain an effective internal control system for the Region: Assist Regions and Countries with the effective design, implementation, and testing of internal controls (design and operating effectiveness), as well as business risk assessments, using the GRC system (Riskonnect). Critically review the quality of self-assessments and tests in the Countries, and provide independent observations and recommendations. Analyze the results and reports from the Countries, and support Region Management in monitoring key risks, key controls, and key actions. Support the implementation of Group/Region-level owned controls and action plans.
- Promote Best Practices & Innovation: Foster harmonization of internal controls, promote automation, digital solutions, and data analytics, and encourage greater reliance on testing to build a sustainable control environment. Strengthen collaboration with Internal Audit, GPOs, Function Heads, IT, and local control teams to drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate Risk Management Processes: Partner with Global Risk Owners, Managing Directors, Risk Champions, and Subject Matter Experts to coordinate risk assessments and monitor the implementation of effective mitigation measures across the Region and Countries.
- Build Knowledge and Competencies: Deliver training and guidance to local teams on internal control and risk management practices. Support and promote the efficient use of the GRC system at both regional and country levels. Deploy the strategy of building internal control competency team by cluster or competency centre in the shared services.
- Monitoring & Communication: Organize regular risk and control updates with Regions and Countries. Monitor and report on deficiencies and action plans. Collaborate on dashboards and benchmarking activities to assess internal control performance. Contribute to the annual financial certification process
- Educational Background: university degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics and Management. Qualified accountant (ACA/CPA) is a plus.
- Professional Experience: Minimum 10 years of combined experience in internal control, risk management, external/internal audit, and/or finance. Experience operating in emerging or complex regulatory environments is a strong advantage.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Proven track record of leading and managing a region or group of countries within an international organization, with strong business partnering and collaboration with shared service centers.
- Languages: Fluent in English. French will be nice to have.
