RF Systems Integration Engineer

Location: San Diego, CA - Naval Base Pt. Loma
Work Type: Full-Time, Hybrid

Clearance Requirement: Secret, (TS/SCI preferred or ability to obtain TS/SCI)

Position Description:

RF Systems Integration Engineer - RF engineering and enterprise-level network integration. Designing, testing, and validating secure, standards-compliant wireless architectures that ensure seamless communication across joint and coalition forces.

Expertise in Radio Frequency (RF) communications, Wireless & Networks and open systems architectures to eliminate legacy bottlenecks and ensure operational resilience in contested and congested environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As an Interoperability Open Systems Analyst, your daily responsibilities will include support Lines of Efforts and strategic mandates and next-generation tactical edge communications. In addition, other areas to include:

  • System-of-Systems Integration: Model, analyze, and optimize communication pathways across disparate, multi-domain RF networks (including satellite, cellular, and tactical radios), ensuring to provide information and/or knowledge to advise stakeholders and other communities of interests regarding seamless interoperability without the limitations of legacy bottlenecks.
  • Interoperability & Standards Compliance: Provide information and/or knowledge to include white papers and/or digital models to architect and design open, virtualized network environments, ensuring strict compliance with Mil-std and commercial standards and DoD C5I frameworks to guarantee cross-platform compatibility.
  • Security & Encryption Implementation: Have knowledge of security measures directly related to RF data links. This includes integrating cryptographic algorithms, robust anti-jamming mechanisms, and Low Probability of Intercept / Low Probability of Detection (LPI/LPD/LPx) features to secure tactical edge nodes.
  • (Desired Experience) Waveform Analysis: Have knowledge and experience to conduct rigorous simulations and physical testing of signal propagation, complex modulation schemes, and transceiver performance to ensure reliability in highly contested Electronic Warfare (EW) environments.

Networking & Protocols

5G / 6G architectures, LTE, Wi-Fi standardizations, and Software-Defined Radio (SDR) frameworks.

Security & Encryption

Cryptography, Transmission Security (TRANSEC) protocols, and IPsec implementations.

(Desired) Simulation & Testing

MATLAB, Simulink, OPNET, SystemVue, and various advanced network emulators.

Architecture Frameworks

Open systems architecture, DoD C5I standards, and Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) interoperability guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or education in Electrical/Electronics specialist, Systems Analysts, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience: 4 to 8 years of applied experience in RF systems, wireless network architecture, or tactical communications.
  • Analytical Mindset: Proven ability to translate complex physical layer data into actionable network-layer integration strategies.
  • Mission Focus: Dedication to advancing the technical capabilities and communication resilience of the warfighter.

Job Classification

  • Salary Range: $100,000–$130,000
