YOUR MISSION

As an RF Electrical Engineer at True Anomaly, you will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and testing of RF systems across our ground and space hardware. You will work closely with a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the highest level of quality, reliability, and performance of our spacecraft. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the rapid design, development, and testing of high-reliability RF communications systems for spacecraft engineering and development efforts
  • Perform analysis to show compliance to requirements including link budgets, compatibility, and antenna patterns
  • Oversee the selection and integration of RF components, including radios, passive components, and active RF components into spacecraft systems
  • Perform system-level integration of RF and electrical subsystems, including hardware and software interfaces
  • Support first article testing, unit level testing, and production testing  
  • Support hardware through production, integration, and launch  
  • Work across spacecraft teams to drive changes that make the system more efficient, manufacturable, and reliable and to ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and quality assurance processes
  • Develop and maintain documentation for RF systems and components, including design specifications, test plans, and operating procedures
  • Participate in all aspects of the product development lifecycle, from concept and requirements definition to product release and post-release support
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on the team
  • Continuously improve RF and electrical engineering processes and practices to drive innovation and efficiency

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 
  • 3-5+ years of experience in RF system design and development for aerospace applications, university level project experience is applicable
  • Demonstrated experience with RF systems and link budgets  
  • Experience with spacecraft communication systems, including S-band, X-band, Ka-band, or other frequency bands used in space missions
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment, such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
  • Experience in RF simulation software (Matlab, HFSS, etc)   
  • Understanding of applicable codes and standards  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree in aerospace or electrical engineering or related field 
  • Experience with software-defined radios (SDRs) and their application in space communication systems
  • Knowledge of space communication protocols, including CCSDS, DVB-S2, and others
  • Experience with file transfer protocols and memory storage  
  • Experience with sub-contracts and suppliers
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment or a similarly dynamic setting

COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary: $120,000-$145,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave 

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job related knowledge and skills, education, location and experience.

  • Work environment—the work environment; temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.
  • Physical demands—the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving.
