About the Role

OpenLoop is looking for a Revenue and Billing Manager to join our team remotely or at HQ in Des Moines, IA. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing our billing operations, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition. This role will supervise and provide guidance to our Billing Specialist, while also collaborating cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Client Success to streamline processes, improve controls, and deliver timely and accurate invoicing and collections. The ideal candidate combines a deep understanding of billing, AR, and revenue processes with strong leadership skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

 

What You'll Do

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the Billing Specialist, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with policies.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex billing inquiries, disputes, and operational challenges.
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement in billing and AR.
  • Oversee the full billing cycle, ensuring timely, accurate, and contract-compliant invoicing.
  • Monitor and reconcile billing data, resolving discrepancies with the Billing Specialist.
  • Implement quality controls to minimize errors and improve efficiency.
  • Partner cross-functionally to document billing requirements for new clients, products, and services.
  • Manage accounts receivable, including aging reports, collections, and cash application.
  • Set and enforce AR policies on credit, collections, and escalation.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Client Success to resolve payment issues while maintaining strong relationships.
  • Provide reporting and analysis of AR metrics, cash flow, and collection performance.
  • Ensure revenue recognition aligns with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Support Finance with month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Analyze billing, AR, and revenue trends to identify risks, variances, and optimization opportunities.
  • Support audits and compliance, preparing necessary documentation.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements for scalability.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for billing accuracy, collections, timeliness, and revenue realization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (CPA or MBA a plus).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in billing, accounts receivable, or revenue management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of billing systems, AR management, revenue recognition principles, and GAAP compliance.
  • Experience managing invoicing and collections for complex contracts (e.g., subscription, usage-based, or service-based models).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to see the “big picture” of process optimization and scalability.
  • Proficiency in accounting and billing software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or equivalent), as well as Excel/Google Sheets.
Remote Salary Range
$110,000$127,000 USD
