About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Revenue Accountant to join our Accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the revenue recognition process, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards such as ASC 606. This position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure revenue is recorded accurately and timely.
Core Expectations:
- Perform day-to-day revenue accounting operations, including billing validation, revenue recognition, and journal entries
- Analyze and reconcile revenue-related general ledger accounts (e.g., sales tax and VAT liabilities, undeposited funds, cash/bank accounts)
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and internal revenue recognition policies
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including account reconciliations and audit support
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and support timely collections follow-up
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Legal, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Support) to understand revenue impacts of business decisions
- Support internal and external audit requests related to revenue transactions and controls
Qualifications & Success Factors:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA candidate preferred).
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance; experience with revenue accounting is a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition standards (especially ASC 606).
- High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and use of formulas
- Experience with ERP systems and other business programs (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Slack, Zoom, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in SaaS, subscription, or other recurring revenue business models.
- Familiarity with various e-commerce and merchant payment platforms (e.g., Shopify, Amazon, Stripe, PayPal, etc.).
- Prior public accounting experience is a plus.
