The Research Specialist is a member of our Library team and reports to a Research Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-depth research and reference assistance for the firm’s lawyers and staff on a wide range of legal and non-legal issues.
  • Work with practice groups and the marketing department on business development and competitive intelligence projects.
  • Assist with the training of lawyers and staff on the effective use of legal and business resources.
  • Monitor news/trends and manages current awareness searches for lawyers and practice groups on legal, business, and industry developments.
  • Participate in reviewing and evaluating new and existing electronic resources to improve service and research efficiencies.
  • Will be expected to serve on-call on a rotating basis, to support research requests after normal business hours and on weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:

  • Law degree, Master of Library/Information Science degree, and/or at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a law firm or corporate library plus undergraduate degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with online news, business, and industry resources such as Westlaw, Lexis, Capital IQ, VitalLaw, CourtLink, PACER, FactSet, and Bloomberg.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong client service orientation, and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure.

The firm offers a generous total compensation package with bonuses and raises awarded in recognition of individual merit-based performance. Pay Transparency Range:

NY: Full-time annualized salary range $98,000 - $122,000

DC: Full-time annualized salary range $94,000 - $120,000

CHI: Full-time annualized salary range $90,000 - $120,000

CA: Full-time annualized salary range $94,000- $122,000

The salary offer will be contingent upon various factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. 

Qualified candidates with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the following laws if applicable:  City of Los Angeles’ Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, the California Fair Chance Act.
