As a Principal Research Data Scientist at iSpot, you will serve as a thought leader and technical authority, driving innovation and shaping the future of TV measurement, attribution, and creative testing. You’ll work on some of the most challenging and high-impact problems in the TV advertising analytics space, leading the design of advanced methodologies, overseeing complex modeling projects, and guiding cross-functional initiatives that push the boundaries of what is measurable in a constantly evolving marketing landscape.
- Technical Leadership & Vision – Define and drive the research agenda for audience measurement, attribution, and creative assessment, ensuring methodological rigor and long-term scalability.
- Model Development & Deployment – Architect, develop, and operationalize advanced statistical and machine learning models that deliver novel insights from massive, high-dimensional viewing and demographic datasets.
- Innovation & Methodology Advancement – Introduce and evaluate cutting-edge data science techniques; publish or present findings internally and externally to strengthen iSpot’s industry reputation.
- Cross-Functional Partnership – Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business challenges into advanced analytical solutions, and ensure successful integration into production systems.
- Mentorship & Standards – Serve as a mentor to other data scientists, elevating the technical bar across the team through code reviews, best practices, and peer development.
- Strategic Problem-Solving – Provide guidance on data architecture and pipeline design in collaboration with Engineering to ensure analytical efficiency, scalability, and data quality.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in mathematics, economics, statistics, computer science, physics, social sciences, or another quantitative field strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of professional experience in data science, statistical modeling, and/or machine learning, with a track record of delivering production-grade analytical solutions at scale.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced statistical methods, experimental design, causal inference, and/or large-scale predictive modeling.
- Proven ability to influence technical direction and gain buy-in from senior stakeholders across business, product, and engineering functions.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python, R, and SQL, with deep experience in modern data science libraries and frameworks.
- Strong background in working with large, complex, and high-dimensional datasets, with an emphasis on quality control and reproducibility.
- Familiarity with big data environments and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Databricks, Snowflake).
- Exceptional communication skills—able to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Industry experience in media measurement, advertising analytics, or marketing science is a strong plus.
Target cash compensation range: $163,620 - $212,710 USD Annually
We are committed to providing competitive, market-informed compensation. The cash compensation above includes base salary, variable commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all full time iSpotters are eligible to participate in iSpot’s equity plan to receive stock options. Non-exempt roles will also be eligible for (pre-approved) overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are influenced by different factors unique to each candidate, including their skills, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Hybrid & Flexible Workplace Policy
iSpot supports a hybrid and flexible workplace. Depending on location and work responsibilities, employees may be designated as full-time or part-time office-based or a fully remote employee. A hybrid work schedule indicates that you work in the office some days and work from home other days. The best hybrid workplaces allow for flexibility while also encouraging consistency.
Those local or living in surrounding areas to one of our offices (Bellevue, WA; El Segundo, CA; New York, NY) will work a hybrid schedule, coming into their local office 1-3 days a week. While those in a role, not office-based and located further away from our offices, will work a fully remote schedule.
