Overview:

INTECON is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) through its upcoming IDIQ contract. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to health policy research and analysis in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. The Research Assistant will support projects focused on improving Medicaid and CHIP policy by assisting with data collection, literature reviews, analysis support, and the development of reports and presentations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct literature reviews and background research on a wide range of Medicaid and CHIP policy topics.
  • Assist in collecting, validating, and organizing data from multiple sources, including government reports, program documents, and administrative data.
  • Support quantitative and qualitative analysis efforts, including preparing data files, checking for accuracy, and performing descriptive analyses.
  • Assist in drafting summaries, issue briefs, presentations, and technical reports.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for stakeholder interviews, expert panels, and other project activities.
  • Work collaboratively with senior researchers, analysts, and project managers to ensure timely and high-quality project deliverables.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and support quality controlprocesses.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, economics, statistics, or a related discipline.
  • 1+ years of work experience (which may include internships or research assistant experience) in health policy, public policy research, data analysis, or program evaluation.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Familiarity with quantitative data tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, SAS, Stata, R) or qualitative data collection methods.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and CHIP policy or experience supporting health-related research projects.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid data sources or public health datasets.
  • Experience preparing visualizations, presentations, or policy briefs for government audiences.
