Are you passionate about shaping the future of pet nutrition and driving innovation in the pet industry? Chewy is seeking a Research & Development Analyst to join our growing Chewy Private Brands team in Plantation, FL.
In this role, you will play a key part in developing and optimizing high-quality pet food and treats, ensuring they meet nutritional, regulatory, and market standards. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation, conduct scientific research, and support the entire R&D lifecycle from ideation to commercialization.

What You'll Do

  • Formulate new products and design experiments to test nutritional efficacy and feasibility.
  • Participate in test run developments, interpret chemical analyses, feed study results, and statistical data to ensure products meet industry standards.
  • Develop label information, including ingredient lists and substantiating product claims.
  • Support sample storage and organization as well as on-site product reviews.
  • Conduct technical research on feasible ingredients to enhance pet product formulations.
  • Support the successful delivery of projects by ensuring technical and commercial feasibility while aligning with consumer expectations.
  • Identify and resolve formulation challenges, collaborating with Research & Development and cross-functional teams.
  • Translate customer insights into innovative product concepts that address pet owners' needs.
  • Assess shelf-life stability, source high-quality ingredients, and validate label claims through scientific research.
  • Serve as a product lifecycle guardian by ensuring existing products remain competitive in the marketplace through customer feedback and market analysis.


What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (e.g., Food Science, Meat Science, Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Packaging).
  • 1-3 years of experience in product development for private label or branded pet products/CPG product.
  • Knowledge of AAFCO regulations and labeling requirements.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and develop expertise in the pet specialty category.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Willingness to travel up to 35% as needed.


Bonus Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree in a relevant scientific field
  • Knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations, particularly regarding ingredient standards, nutrition labeling, and product claims.
