Summary

Immerse is building the enterprise platform for Fluency Performance, helping B2B learners around the world communicate with confidence when it matters most. Our interdisciplinary team of designers, developers, and language experts is creating immersive experiences that directly connect language learning to business outcomes.

We’re looking for a Senior Unity Developer (Mobile & UI Systems) to lead the design, development, and implementation of high-quality, mobile-first user interfaces within our immersive learning platform. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and product design, focusing on building responsive UI systems that scale across mobile, desktop, and VR environments. You’ll own the end-to-end implementation and quality of core user flows from design review and technical architecture through implementation, instrumentation, and iteration.

As a senior contributor, you’ll shape architectural decisions, improve our multi-platform interface patterns, and mentor developers as we continue evolving our product surface. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and cross-functional engineers to rapidly prototype, ship, and iterate on interactive learner flows that drive measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead mobile-first Unity development, ensuring smooth performance and optimized UI across a wide range of mobile devices
  • Architect and implement scalable UI frameworks within Unity, aligned with Immerse’s broader design system and product standards
  • Collaborate directly with designers to translate Figma prototypes into production-ready interfaces.
  • Implement clean, maintainable C# code that supports efficient iteration and long-term scalability
  • Drive the integration of visual and interactive elements to create seamless, high-quality learning experiences
  • Partner with product and design to prototype, test, and refine interactive feature flows
  • Contribute to and help evolve Immerse’s multi-platform architecture, ensuring consistency between VR, web, and native app environments.
  • Collaborate within cross-functional product pods, pairing with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to deliver high-impact features that drive measurable business results
  • Own end-to-end feature delivery for mobile and desktop flows – from early technical discovery and estimation through code reviews, release readiness, and post-launch iteration.
  • Instrument UI flows with analytics events (e.g., funnel tracking, drop-off points, task success) and partner with Product to analyze and iterate on behavior-driven insights.
  • Mentor junior Unity developers and help establish engineering and collaboration best practices
Required Skills and Experience
  • 8+ years of professional experience in Unity development, including 3+ years focused on UI systems and front-end engineering.
  • Proven experience shipping and maintaining mobile applications built in Unity (iOS and Android).
  • Advanced proficiency in C#, setting up responsive UGUI layouts that adapt across resolutions and aspect ratios (mobile portrait/landscape, desktop widescreen, VR world space constraints) and familiarity with UI state management and architectural patterns
  • Strong understanding of interaction design principles, motion, and animation to enhance user experience
  • Demonstrated collaboration with designers to deliver high-quality, accessible, and visually refined interfaces.
  • Experience building data-driven UI systems with asynchronous backend integration (REST APIs, real-time data updates)
  • Experience working on live applications with frequent update cycles and responsive iteration based on user feedback
  • Comfort working with analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, custom dashboards) and using data to prioritize UI improvements.
  • Ability to import, organize, and integrate 2D art assets (icons, backgrounds, characters, etc.) into Unity projects with correct compression, pivot points, and layer sorting.
  • Attention to detail and consistency in UI visual language, ensuring alignment with the art direction and overall game design.
  • Regularly profile builds, identify UI bottlenecks (layout rebuilds, overdraw, allocations), and implement improvements to hit target FPS and memory budgets on our lowest supported devices.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading UI architecture within a large-scale Unity application.
  • Experience building and maintaining a design-system-driven component library in Unity (e.g., theming, typography, spacing, iconography) used by multiple teams.
  • Strong aesthetic sensibility and understanding of how design decisions impact usability and performance.
  • Familiarity with multi-platform product development (mobile, desktop, VR).
  • Experience with animation systems, shaders, or effects that enhance UI polish.
  • Committed to continuous growth and expanding leadership capabilities while maintaining deep ownership of complex systems, driving technical excellence, mentoring and managing others, and shaping how we build immersive products at scale.
Benefits
  • Three weeks of paid vacation annually
  • 401(k) with company matching.
  • Health, dental, and vision plans.
  • 100% remote.
  • Hardware stipend.
  • Annual learning & development stipend.
  • Co-working membership stipend.
  • Salary Range: $110,000 to $140,000

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
