Position Overview
Storer Transportation is seeking a strategic and highly analytical Remote Route Planner / Scheduler to architect our daily, weekly, and seasonal transportation networks. This role focus on building, testing, and optimizing fixed-route and multi-stop transit paths to reduce fuel consumption, maximize passenger capacity, and guarantee strict on-time arrivals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize complex, multi-stop routes for school bus operations, public transit, and corporate charter networks.
- Utilize advanced routing software to evaluate traffic trends, road hazards, construction patterns, and geographical constraints.
- Assign appropriate vehicle classes and driver teams to routes to balance workloads and remain under DOT hours-of-service limits.
- Re-evaluate and re-engineer underperforming paths using historical GPS and telematics data.
- Deliver ready-to-execute master schedules to regional dispatch terminals well ahead of daily rollout windows.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of experience in automated routing, scheduling, or supply chain network design in the transit or logistics field.
- Advanced mastery of professional routing platforms such as Versatrans, Edulog, Trapeze, or heavy logistics equivalents.
- Exceptional spatial reasoning, mapping skills, and data analysis capabilities.
- Strong understanding of DOT safety rules, driver rest requirements, and vehicle capacity guidelines.
- Collaborative communicator capable of translating complex logistics data into actionable driver plans.
