Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing overall underwriting excellence through management and tactical direction for Cyber Liability lines of business. Directs the development and implementation of strategic and operational objectives for the Cyber Liability lines in accordance with the company’s strategic plans.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Delegating underwriting authority
  • Approving underwriting referrals
  • Taking action to achieve desired underwriting performance and efficiency
  • Assessing risk tolerance, market conditions, and emerging risk issues
  • Conducting internal underwriting peer reviews to ensure corporate guidelines and best practices are being met
  • Serving as the liaison with carrier partners, including reinsurers, regarding underwriting matters
  • Identifying new underwriting opportunities; monitoring the market place and identifying competitor and industry changes that impact the effectiveness of current, pending or proposed programs
  • Working closely with all other members of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure comprehensive, efficient, and effective approach to business and talent strategy development and execution
  • Achieve KPI’s set by the leadership team, ensure clear communication, alignment of team goals with organizational objectives
  • Manage a team of underwriters, and loss control representatives. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Mastery of underwriting discipline and knowledge in the insurance field and a broad understanding of the critical issues in other related areas.
  • Master communication skills which are critical to building consensus across area of influence (external and/or internal relationships), teams environment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong ability to drive results by identifying and resolving significant problems within scope of responsibility.
  • Senior level knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with Master’s preferred in a related discipline, or equivalent.
  • Typically a minimum of 15 years of related work experience, with 10 years management experience.
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation preferred.

Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.

Compensation & Benefits:

- Pay: $190,000 -$210,000 annually (commensurate with experience and location).
- Total Compensation Context: This role may be eligible for annual performance bonuses and equity participation.
