Job Description:
As the Regional Sales Manager (RSM) you will provide strategic direction and support for a team of Territory Sales Managers (TSMs) for assigned brands and products. Equally, you will provide support and guidance for your TSM’s through coaching and mentoring to positively influence TSM selling behavior. You will play a key role in leading the regional sales funnel and have the ability to influence cross-regional programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Directs the field activities of 8-12 field based direct sales representatives in an assigned area to meet or exceed the sales quotas established for the area.
- Establish contact with key management, decision makers, and influencers in hospitals, dental schools, medical schools, private practitioner offices as well as any outpatient or surgery centers where the use of magnification would be useful.
- Develop and maintain an effective organization through the recruiting, selection, training, compensation, coaching and motivation of personnel. Provide guidance and direction to field sales personnel to assist them in their personal and professional development.
- Provide orientation and guidance to new field sales personnel to ensure consistency in presentation and sales ability throughout the assigned geography.
- Develop annual sales goals and projections for the designated geography.
- Understand and support the company’s sales policies and procedures.
- Relate new product ideas and product extensions from the field to the office.
- Direct and administer field promotions to promote sales and maintain favorable relations with customers.
- Develop and manage the sales training programs required to maximize the effectiveness of the field sales force.
- Be able to fill open territories and fully support the sales organization when necessary. Visit assigned customers on a regular basis to promote products, relate new product information, solicit feedback on the company’s products and services.
- Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas.
- Review and report complaints received from customers and recommend corrective action.
- Prepare and analyze reports.
- Coordinate effective communications as liaison between the sales department and the home office as well as other sales related business units within the platform.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of equivalent sales experience in lieu of education.
- 4+ years’ experience B2B sales experience; medical device sales preferred.
- Candidate must reside within the designated geography/territory, ideally Southern California.
- Ability to travel up to 50% overnight
Preferred Skills:
- 4+ years’ experience leading/coaching a sales team (6 or more direct reports) in a multi-state region with a proven track record of successful performance required.
- Computer and organizational skills are essential.
- Word and Excel - Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Proficient communication skills (both written and verbal) are required. Must demonstrate an ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups managers, clients, customers and other business entities.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Demonstrate an ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Demonstrate an ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited information exists.
- Demonstrate ability to manage a territory of similar size and scope.
- Must have a proven record of leadership and mentoring skills.
- Completion of formalized sales training course(s) preferred.
- Ability to work independently and creatively.
- Strong organizational skills with proven time management skills.

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
