Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the Role:

Remitly is hiring Regional Business Managers to own growth in our USA to Latin America markets (these markets cover customers sending money to Latin America from the USA). The Regional Business Manager will own a cluster of corridors and be responsible for the growth and health of the markets in their region.

This is a strategy, analytics, and operations role involving planning, building, and executing initiatives across product, pricing, marketing, risk/fraud, analytics, customer service, engineering, and other departments. You will report to the USA to Latin America & Caribbean (US-LAC) General Manager and work in a hybrid environment from our Seattle, Arlington/Washington DC, or New York City office.

Corridor Clusters:

We are hiring for several corridor clusters within the US-LATAM markets. We will match each hire to the cluster where their market expertise is strongest, and cluster boundaries may shift to fit the right person. We are looking for deep expertise in at least one of the following:

  • Central America (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua): We are looking for someone with experience across these four key markets in Central America.  We especially welcome candidates with a Guatemalan background or deep familiarity with Guatemala, including its indigenous communities.
  • South America North (Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia): We are looking for deep knowledge of one or more of these markets and their communities in the US, with a Colombian or Ecuadorian background especially welcome.
  • South America South (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay): We are looking for someone with experience across the Southern Cone of South America. Given Brazil’s market size and distinct market dynamics it is of particular interest.

You Will:

  • Own sustainable growth in your cluster of USA to Latin America corridors, measured against key performance indicators like new customers, monthly active customers, transactions, volume, revenue, and profitability.
  • Serve as the market expert for your corridors, building a deep understanding of customers and their communities in the US, the competitive set, and the receive-side ecosystem (payout partners, regulation, and local market conditions), and bringing that context and customer insights into decisions across the business.
  • Define both the long and short term strategic vision for growth in your corridors, and the tactical roadmap of initiatives for how to achieve that vision.
  • Partner closely with and drive action across pricing, product, marketing, risk/fraud, and other relevant teams: set a clear point of view on what your corridors need, push for decisions and launches, and follow through to measured results.
  • Support commercial conversations with disbursement and destination partners in your markets, turning partner opportunities into customer-facing offers.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market developments and customer trends, translating insights into regional priorities.
  • Build business cases for key initiatives and influence prioritization of partner-teams' roadmaps through structured business impact / customer centric frameworks.
  • Drive ideation of regional product initiatives, and work with the US-LAC product, engineering, and design team to translate customer and commercial opportunities into clear requirements. Support the development cycles & measure outcomes post launch.
  • Share learnings with the other Regional Business Managers and the US-LAC GM so that what works in one cluster can be applied across the region.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in business management, growth, or general management roles in a B2C context, ideally in money movement, fintech, or financial services.
  • Native level fluency in Spanish (required), fluent Portuguese for Brazil-focused candidates.
  • An ownership mentality and a track record of ownership. We are looking for someone with a bias for action who “gets things done” and is hungry to grow their areas of the business. Ideally you have: owned a market, product, or P&L end to end and driven results across some combination of pricing, product, marketing, and risk/fraud.
  • Deep regional and cultural expertise in at least one of the corridor clusters above, gained through lived experience, professional experience in the region, or both, including an understanding of the migrant community in the US and how customers send and receive money in these markets.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills (qualitative and quantitative). Can generate high quality hypotheses and dive into an ambiguous problem statement.
  • Ability to balance compassionate partnership and the ability to be constructively direct. You will influence and network within the business and with external partners.

Preferred:

  • Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services. Ideally serving immigrant communities in the US or customers in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Product experience OR growth / marketing experience in the areas noted above.

Compensation Details: The starting base salary range for this position is typically $156,000 - $195,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan. Your recruiter can share more information about medical benefits offered, as well as other financial benefits and total compensation components offered with this role. #LI-Hybrid

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
