Who Are We?

Have you struggled to reserve that coveted summer camping spot at a state park? Have you wondered why you’re stuck filling out a paper form to renew a permit? What about not being able to reserve your favorite pickleball court from your phone?

Kaizen Labs is redefining government technology and building solutions across parks & recreation, permitting, citizen engagement, and more. We recognize that incumbent software systems are inefficient and sometimes broken. That’s why we believe residents and public servants across America’s 85,000 government agencies deserve access to modern, trusted software that rivals what we use in our daily lives.

Kaizen’s software currently serves ~1.5 million residents across the country and this number will increase to 7 million in the first half of 2025. Some of our partners include the City of Santa Clarita, MetroParks of Butler County, and the Town of Weymouth. Here is a quick video capturing the essence of our work with Pima County, AZ!

Founded in 2022 and based in New York City, we’re backed by Accel and Andreessen Horowitz. Our team of 25 (and growing) is eager to leave a lasting impact on the public services that are so critical to our health, safety, and wellness.

Before You Apply…

This role has a significant travel component to it and requires an individual to have strong autonomy, and an entrepreneurial mindset. This is a high-agency role where you will help drive planning and outcomes for your territory. We have tremendous respect for public servants and empathize with their pain points, so low ego, and high EQ go a long way.

Location

This is a remote-first role, but the candidate must be comfortable traveling across the Midwest. This person will be traveling 50%+ of the time for trade shows/conferences, customer meetings, demos, and in-person jam sessions with the team.

What You'll Do...

  • Sales Execution & Strategy

    • Identify high-priority leads in your territory and craft an execution plan to reach and convert these leads

    • Thoughtfully execute the full sales cycle (i.e. cold and warm outreach, leading demos, in-person meetings, proposal management, contract negotiations, and closing) against quotas

    • Drive product demos with key stakeholders, identifying their painpoints and needs, and effectively demonstrating our products’ value-add

    • Spend up to 50% of your time meeting leads and prospects at conferences and events, developing meaningful relationships, serving as their thought partner for digital transformation, and conducting demos in person

    • Maintain engagement with leads through proactive communications

    • Innovate established and traditional sales processes in local government to find creative ways of reaching our target customers

  • Other Ongoing Workflows

    • Collaborate closely with operations, partnerships, and other peers on the BD team

    • Actively seek out feedback from customers to ensure our product suite aligns with user needs; communicate this feedback to our executive team and engineers

    • Develop product expertise, understand the competitive landscape, and stay up to date with industry trends

    • Regularly update and maintain our sales CRM

You Will Thrive at Kaizen If…

  • You appreciate entrepreneurial environments where you have the opportunity to shape processes and offer your opinions

  • You want to be surrounded by high-EQ, low-ego individuals

  • You’re scrappy and self-directed and don’t need to wait to be told what to do

  • You appreciate continuous feedback and collaboration over highly prescriptive and formal feedback

  • You enjoy being on the road, meeting customers in person, and developing meaningful relationships with customers

  • You are mission-driven and understand our role in improving the lives of residents and public servants across the country

  • You possess high attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

What You'll Bring...

  • 5+ years of experience in a sales role, with demonstrated ability to lead full-cycle sales

  • You regularly conduct customer demos, often without the support of SE

  • Experience in field and territory sales

  • Experience in B2B or B2C Technology and SaaS sales

  • Proficient in sales tools like Salesforce, Gong, Outreach, LinkedIn, and ZoomInfo

Strong Candidates May Also Have…

  • Experience in government technology

  • Demonstrated closing experience in enterprise sales motions

  • Prior experience at early-stage startups

Benefits and Salary Range

  • Platinum PPO health care plus premium coverage for dental & vision

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Competitive equity grants

  • Employer-sponsored 401k

  • $200k - $220k OTE (uncapped)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
