The summary above was generated by AI

At PicnicHealth, we're building the future of non-interventional clinical research, powered by AI and centered on patients. Our mission is to make it radically easier, faster, and more efficient to generate high-quality real-world evidence. We're replacing outdated systems and manual procedures with a modern, AI-first approach that unlocks insights from rich, multi-modal data including medical records, digital health tools,  and patient-reported outcomes—at scale

By engaging patients directly through our personal health assistant, PicnicAI, which meets them where they’re at and delights them along the way (with an industry leading NPS of 76), patients participate actively in the research they care about.

PicnicHealth is already a trusted partner to 7 of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies. Our work spans 40+ disease areas and has supported over 60 peer-reviewed publications, including an FDA submission that incorporates PicnicHealth data.

Founded in 2014, we’ve raised $100M+ from top investors like Amplify Partners, Felicis Ventures, B Capital Group, and Y Combinator. Our business running non-interventional studies more than doubled last year, and we’re growing even faster in 2025. We’re a team of doctors, patients, data nerds, engineers, and builders, reimagining how clinical research works — and we’re just getting started!

The Opportunity

We're looking for a tech-forward recruiter who thrives in fast-paced environments and wants to make a real impact. You'll partner with our People & Talent team to scale our organization across two distinct talent markets—cutting-edge tech and life sciences. You'll own the critical balance of moving fast without compromising quality—filling key positions in weeks, not months, while maintaining our high hiring bar and ensuring each person you bring in makes our team stronger. If you're energized by variety, love leveraging AI to work smarter, act like a true business partner, and want to help build something transformative in healthcare, we want to talk to you.

This is a full time contract position, with strong potential to convert to full-time by end of year based on performance and company growth.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive full-cycle recruiting across diverse roles. Own the process end-to-end for product, engineering, delivery, marketing, sales, and G&A;
  • Build targeted sourcing strategies for each role. You'll tap into tech communities for technical roles and life sciences networks for clinical experts—becoming fluent in both worlds;
  • Partner effectively with hiring managers to understand their needs, calibrate on candidates, and keep searches moving. You'll be their trusted recruiting partner, not just an order taker;
  • Create exceptional candidate experiences that showcase our mission and culture. You'll know how to pitch PicnicHealth to a senior engineer, an epidemiologist, a sales executive, and a clinical operations manager —and get them all excited;
  • Leverage AI tools to amplify your impact. We use AI in everything we do, including recruiting. You'll experiment with new tools and share what works with the team;
  • Manage multiple searches efficiently. You're comfortable juggling 8-12 active roles while maintaining quality and momentum on each;
  • Use data to drive decisions. Track your funnel metrics, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve your approach.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3-5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience in fast-growing tech companies. You've hired successfully across technical and business roles;
  • Life sciences industry exposure—either through direct professional experience or recruiting for companies in the pharma/biotech space—giving you the context to effectively engage with our unique talent market;
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume recruiting while maintaining quality. You have systems and processes that work;
  • You actively use AI in your recruiting practice. Whether it's ChatGPT for Boolean strings or Claude for interview prep, you see AI as essential to your recruiting success;
  • Strong communication and relationship skills. Hiring managers request you for their searches. Candidates remember you months later;
  • Intellectual curiosity and rapid learning ability—you genuinely want to understand our business, our market, and how each role contributes to our business goals and mission;
  • Operational or client-facing experience (bonus if outside of recruiting) that helps you think like a business partner, not just a recruiter.

We expect all team members to be amazing in their roles and, ultimately, to move the PicnicHealth mission forward.

What is clinical research and why will PicnicHealth win?

Clinical research is the industry responsible for conducting studies to evaluate the effectiveness of drugs and treatments. Better trials lead to faster, more cost-effective drug development, ultimately resulting in more and improved treatments for patients. However, the process remains highly inefficient. Trials are a major bottleneck in drug development, and the promising advancements in biotech cannot achieve their full potential unless clinical research becomes more effective.

The industry runs on outdated technology and manual processes. Research sites (hospitals, academic centers, doctors' offices) are a major bottleneck, and contract research organizations (CROs) spend most of their time wrangling sites and cobbling together vendor software.

PicnicHealth has built technology that uniquely positions us to run faster, cheaper, and more flexible studies without requiring sites:

  • PicnicAI (trained on 350M+ clinician annotations over 100k+ patient records) is the only system that can effectively access and structure all participant EMR data trials need
  • Our AI health assistant (NPS of 76 in 2024) guides participants through study activities and enables most to be done at home
  • We're an integrated solution — virtual site, CRO, and software platform — with AI built in from the ground up, initially focusing on non-interventional research.

The other perks & benefits you get when you work at PicnicHealth

This is a full time contract position, with strong potential to convert to full-time by end of year based on performance and company growth.

Target hourly rate: $70-90/hr with potential to convert to full time annual salary (and benefits) of $110,000 to $130,000.

The contracting rate, and eventually the base salary, that PicnicHealth offers may vary depending upon the scope, complexity, and autonomy of the position and on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

We offer the following benefits to all full time employees (for you to keep in mind should you become an FTE but also so you know what we offer the candidates you’ll be hiring):

We’re a remote first company, with teammates spread across the US. We support in-person gatherings, including co-working spaces and multi-day onsites, to build connections and move forward strategic initiatives. Expect to travel 2-4 times a year.  For our team members in the Bay Area, who prefer to work in person we can offer a hybrid set up to work from the SF office on a flexible schedule.

You also get:

  • Comprehensive benefits including above market Health, Dental, Vision
  • Family friendly environment
  • Flexible time off

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
